BOOKING A CHURCH CONCERT

We make it as easy as possible to bring Mark's music and speaking ministry to your parish. We provide all the custom promotional material you need for the event in your community. You job is to generate plenty of enthusiasm in the parish to make the concert a success.

Mark travels primarily by ground in a tour bus with his family (his wife Lea sings back-up vocals). Mark provides professional sound and lighting to create a beautiful environment of ministry.

REMUNERATION:

Mark relies primarily on God's Providence to support his full-time ministry and family through donations and stipends. If possible, we ask that the amount of a $500 stipend for direct travel expenses be covered by the parish. Additionally, we also ask that the parish take up a free will offering the evening of the event to help cover the financial needs for Mark's family.

Occasionally parishes prefer to pay Mark a set fee in order to make it a ticketed or totally free event. In this case, we'd be happy to discuss the particular details of remuneration with you.

In the U.S., in order for Mark to receive travel remuneration and donations and freely sell his music, he is required to obtain a P-2 Worker's Visa which involves a 4 month processing time and costs $350. All arrangements and required paperwork for U.S. concerts would need to be completed prior to this 4 month window. If a booking is more short-notice, an expedited P-2 Visa is required, which costs $1,400 and takes a minimum 1 month window to process. The expense for the P-2 Visa in either scenario would need to be split between parishes on a road tour.

Please note: Due to the complexity of obtaining a P-2 Visa, Mark is taking limited U.S. concert bookings at this time, and can only book with a parish if it works into an extensive road tour and the date he has available is agreeable for all. Mark is not typically able to fly to parishes to do concerts, as he has very specific sound and lighting requirements that are most easily (and affordably) met with his own high calibre system.

WHAT'S INVOLVED...
We simply need one key person to send the concert kit to who will spear-head promotions (don't worry--the promotional tools we provide make their job easy, even if they've never done this before!) & delegate others who will help generate much enthusiasm in the parish & community & help handle his CD table on the night of the concert.

We have found that the most successful turnouts are the concerts where the priest enthusiastically endorses the event. Also, when there is an enthusiastic team of people (CWL, prayer group, youth group or K of C, for example) getting the word out, and when a song is played from Mark's Worship album ("Let the Lord Know") for a Communion meditation in the weeks prior. Word of mouth and personal invitation are extremely effective ways to generate enthusiasm for the concert.

THE CONCERT... Mark's concerts are about an hour and 45 minutes in length, offering powerful, soul-soothing music and faith-building insights for all ages. Musically, he performs all his own original material, which includes a good balance of easy-listening and upbeat music.

The nature of Mark's presentation is one of bringing our faith into relatable and contemporary terms through music and sharing his own experiences in light of the teachings of the Catholic Faith. Mark recognizes that music is an excellent way to reach the hearts and minds of people in a profound way. His captivating presentation together with engaging & clean humour meets people of all ages right where they're at. Many people have likened Mark's concerts to a "mini-mission", as his passion for Christ is contagious as he shares both his journey and practical spiritual principles with thought-provoking insights in between songs.

Because of the evangelistic nature of the event, Mark holds the concert in the church sanctuary, paying particular attention to the Eucharistic Presence in a spirit of deep reverence.

TECHNICAL MISC... Mark comes fully equipped with all his own high calibre professional sound equipment and lighting if he is travelling with his tour bus, and simply needs adequate power outlets and access to the breaker box. It takes at least three hours for Mark to set up and do a thorough sound check, so it is IMPERATIVE that the church is free of activities in the hours prior to concert start time.

Church halls, basements, and gymnasiums should not be used unless absolutely necessary, as they greatly affect the sound quality and prayerful environment of the concert. On days where there is an evening mass, the priest needs to be aware that equipment will be present in the altar area due to the length of the setup. The equipment does not impede Father's ability to say mass, he just needs to be made aware beforehand that this is what to expect. (To see a diagram of how the equipment is placed in relation to the altar, please click HERE.)

WHAT NOW...?
If this is a U.S. booking, we will need to fax you the proper forms to sign in order for us to apply for a P-2 . You will then need at least 4-6 week's advanced promotion time, so a customized, very comprehensive concert kit (complete with full color posters, bulletin insert masters, church announcement, media write-up, etc.) will be sent to you so that this event would be as successful as possible. And of course, you get a handful of free CD's!

NOTE: If your parish is able to offer childcare during the event, you will have more success in drawing the young families out. Beverages and snacks afterwards are also a nice way to draw the parish together and build true community.

Please email Mark's manager, Lea, at: lea@markmallett.com or call 1-306-369-2585 to discuss available dates & booking specifics.

We look forward to planning this faith-building event with you!
