A Mustard Tree

IN Evil, Too, Has a Name, I wrote that the goal of Satan is to collapse civilization into his hands, into a structure and system rightly called "a beast." This is what St. John the Evangelist described in a vision he received where this beast causes "all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave" to be forced into a system whereby they cannot buy or sell anything without a "mark" (Rev 13:16-17). The prophet Daniel also saw a vision of this beast similar to St. John’s (Dan 7:-8) and interpreted a dream of King Nebuchadnezzar in which this beast was seen as a statue made up of different materials, symbolic of different kings who form alliances. The context for all of these dreams and visions, while having dimensions of fulfillment in the prophet’s own time, is also for the future:

Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end. (Dan 8:17)

A time when, after the beast is destroyed, God will establish His spiritual Kingdom to the ends of the earth.

AS I prayed this morning, I sensed the Lord offering a tremendous gift to this generation: complete absolution.

If this generation would just turn to Me, I would overlook all her sins, even those of abortion, cloning, pornography and materialism. I would wipe away their sins as far as the east is from the west, if only this generation would turn back to Me…

God is offering the very depths of His Mercy to us. It is because, I believe, we are on the threshold of His Justice.

THE DAY OF THE LORD — PART III

THE Day of the Lord is drawing nearer. It is a Day when the manifold Wisdom of God will be made known to the nations.

Wisdom… hastens to make herself known in anticipation of men’s desire; he who watches for her at dawn shall not be disappointed, for he shall find her sitting by his gate. (Wis 6:12-14)

The question may be asked, "Why would the Lord purify the earth for a ‘thousand year’ period of peace? Why wouldn’t He just return and usher in the New Heavens and New Earth for eternity?"

The answer I hear is,

The vindication of Wisdom.

IN the Spring of 2006, I received a very strong word that is in the forefront of my thoughts these days…

With the eyes of my soul, the Lord had been giving me brief "glimpses" into the various structures of the world: economies, political powers, the food chain, the moral order, and elements within the Church. And the word was always the same:

The corruption is so deep, it must all come down.

The Lord was speaking of a Cosmic Surgery, down to the very foundations of civilization. It seems to me that while we can and must pray for souls, the Surgery itself is now irreversible:

When foundations are being destroyed, what can the upright do? (Psalm 11:3)

Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. (Luke 3:9)

WE often say "Noah’s ark" when we speak of that famous boat. But it wasn’t just Noah who survived: God saved a family. 

Together with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, Noah went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. (Gen 7:7)

St. John Bosco’s Dream of the Two Pillars

THE possibility that there will be an "Era of Peace" after this time of trial which the world has entered into is something the early Church Father’s spoke of. I believe it will ultimately be "the triumph of the Immaculate Heart" which Mary foretold in Fatima. What applies to her also applies to the Church: that is, there is a coming triumph of the Church. It is a hope which has existed from the time of Christ…

THE COMING ERA OF PEACE — PART III 
 

THE first Mass reading this past Sunday (October 5th, 2008) resounded in my heart like thunder. I heard the sigh of a God mourning over the state of His Betrothed:

What more was there to do for my vineyard that I had not done? Why, when I looked for the crop of grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes? Now, I will let you know what I mean to do with my vineyard: take away its hedge, give it to grazing, break through its wall, let it be trampled! (Isaiah 5:4-5)

But this too is an act of love. Read on to understand why the purification which has now arrived is not only necessary, but part of God’s divine plan…

The young have shown themselves to be for Rome and for the Church a special gift of the Spirit of God… I did not hesitate to ask them to make a radical choice of faith and life and present them with a stupendous task: to become "morning watchmen" at the dawn of the new millennium. —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Novo Millennio Inuente, n.9; (cf. Is 21:11-12)

AS one of these "young", one of the "children of John Paul II," I have tried to respond to this overwhelming task asked of us by the Holy Father.

I will stand at my guard post, and station myself upon the rampart, and keep watch to see what he will say to me… Then the LORD answered me and said: Write down the vision clearly upon the tablets, so that one can read it readily.(Habb 2:1-2)

And so I wish to speak what I hear, and write what I see: 

We are approaching the dawn and are crossing the threshold of hope into the The Day of the Lord.

Keep in mind, however, that the "morning" begins at midnight—the darkest part of the day. The night preceeds the dawn.
