Editorials already call for the removal of guarantees of religious liberty, with crusaders calling for people of faith to be coerced to acceptance of this redefinition [of marriage]. He professes to have knowledge of God and styles himself a child of the LORD. To us he is the censure of our thoughts; merely to see him is a hardship for us, because his life is not like that of others, and different are his ways. He judges us debased; he holds aloof from our paths as from things impure. He calls blest the destiny of the just and boasts that God is his Father&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">But today&#8217;s Psalm adds the reassurance:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves. Many are the troubles of the just man, but out of them all the LORD delivers him.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><em>Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven<\/em>, Jesus said.<em> Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.<\/em> <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_14568_1('footnote_plugin_reference_14568_1_6');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_14568_1('footnote_plugin_reference_14568_1_6');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_14568_1_6\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[6]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_14568_1_6\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf.
