His concern was that children, who are often brought to the parade by parents and teachers, may be exposed to illegal public nudity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"LEFT\">As a result, homosexual activists slammed him as a &#8220;&#8216;homophobic a**hole\u2019 and an \u2018outrageous bigot.\u2019&#8221; <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_15057_1('footnote_plugin_reference_15057_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_15057_1('footnote_plugin_reference_15057_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_15057_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_15057_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/toronto-school-trustee-called-homophobic-for-questioning-nudity-at-family-f\">LifeSiteNews.com<\/a>, Feb. 17th, <span style=\"font-size: small;\">2014<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_15057_1_2').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_15057_1_2', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/span> His response:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Interesting to remark how readily those who don&#8217;t want to be labelled, cast labels and slander at others&#8230; To think, these are the folks who are \u2018inclusive\u2019?! I&#8217;d say, \u2018Shame on you,\u2019 but there&#8217;s no suggestion they&#8217;d understand what it is. <\/strong>\u2014Sam Sotiropoulos, Toronto District School Board trustee, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/toronto-school-trustee-called-homophobic-for-questioning-nudity-at-family-f\">LifeSiteNews.com<\/a>, Feb. 17th, 2014<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">We all know that on any given day, a nude man or woman walking down the street would immediately be arrested\u2014all the more so if they were strolling by a children&#8217;s playground. There would be outrage in the social media, instant condemnation on the news, and quick retribution by the justice system. But for some enigmatic reason, this same standard does not apply when men and women, mere feet away from the faces of children, stroll by provocatively and totally naked in a parade\u2014often with police and politicians as <em>participants<\/em>. Ironically, the same people who wish to see pedophile priests burned at the stake have little to say about this obvious hypocrisy.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">It is merely another chapter in what Benedict XVI lucidly described as an &#8220;eclipse of reason&#8221; in our times. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_15057_1('footnote_plugin_reference_15057_1_3');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_15057_1('footnote_plugin_reference_15057_1_3');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_15057_1_3\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[3]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_15057_1_3\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/on-the-eve-2\/\">On the Eve<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_15057_1_3').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_15057_1_3', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> Before the Passion of Christ and the martyrdom of the first disciples and Apostles, <em>the climate was the same<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">&#8230;people from Cilicia and Asia, came forward and debated with Stephen, but they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke. (First reading)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">This did not cause Stephen&#8217;s persecutors to pause and reflect on the truth of his arguments. Rather, it stoked their hatred and intolerance such that they resorted to character assassination.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">&#8230;princes meet and talk against me&#8230; (Today&#8217;s Psalm)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Brothers and sisters, the time of reasoning, of debating, of convincing others of the truth\u2014beyond supernatural intervention\u2014seems to be drawing to a close. Why?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8230;this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. (John 3:19)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The world knows the moral teachings of the Catholic Church\u2014and have rejected them. The eclipse of reason has darkened the minds of this generation to such a degree that, like Jesus, the only possible answer will eventually be <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-silent-answer\/\">The Silent Answer<\/a>. <\/em>But it must be the silence of love, humility, and patience. The silence of a deep joy. JOHN PAUL II, from poem &#8220;<em>Stanislaw<\/em>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The worldly are not seeking spiritual food, but perishable, as in today&#8217;s Gospel. They sought after Jesus to satisfy their flesh, not their souls. This is why so many liberal commentators applaud Pope Francis today\u2014they take words like &#8220;Who am I to judge?&#8221; <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_15057_1('footnote_plugin_reference_15057_1_6');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_15057_1('footnote_plugin_reference_15057_1_6');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_15057_1_6\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[6]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_15057_1_6\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/who-am-i-to-judge\/\">Who Am I to Judge?<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_15057_1_6').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_15057_1_6', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> and eat them without considering the truth behind them. Jesus was admired at the age of 12 for His wisdom. But <em>when He revealed the truth of who He was<\/em>, they utterly rejected His wisdom. The time will come when, like Christ and St. Stephen and St. Paul, the Pope, and all those who will not compromise the truth, will be openly persecuted. Is that time not already at hand?
