For it is true, and it always has been, that we can turn to her not only for the sweetness of the Sacraments but also to draw upon the infallible Revelation of Jesus Christ that sets us free.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Still, we see dimly.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">What we understand now of the &#8220;things of God&#8221; is comparable to what a newborn infant understands of quantum physics.<em> &#8220;At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror,&#8221;<\/em> says Paul, <em>&#8220;but then face to face.&#8221;<\/em> As Jesus said to St. Faustina:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong><em>Who God is in His Essence, no one will fathom, neither the mind of Angels nor of man&#8230; Get to know God by contemplating His attributes. <\/em><\/strong>\u2014<em>Divine Mercy in My Soul, <\/em>Diary, 30<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Those attributes, says Paul, can be summed up in one word: <em>love. <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">Love is patient, love is kind.\u00a0It is not jealous, love is not pompous,\u00a0it is not inflated, it is not rude,\u00a0it does not seek its own interests,\u00a0it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury,\u00a0it does not rejoice over wrongdoing\u00a0but rejoices with the truth.\u00a0It bears all things, believes all things,\u00a0hopes all things, endures all things. (First reading)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The more we become like <em>love <\/em>the more we will become like God, and the more we will enter into His mystery. I do not think the same can be said of truth\u2014that the more truth we know, the more we will become like He who said He was &#8220;the truth.&#8221; In fact, St. Paul warns:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">If I&#8230; comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge&#8230; but do not have love, I am nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Thus, we need to be careful that, while defending Catholicism, we do not fall into a sort of triumphalism whereby we use the gift of the Church like a bludgeon. For love must be\u00a0her most distinguishing characteristic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier;\">This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Love, namely, <em>love of Christ<\/em>, is the reason that there can even be such a thing as ecumenism. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_16284_1('footnote_plugin_reference_16284_1_1');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_16284_1('footnote_plugin_reference_16284_1_1');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_16284_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_16284_1_1\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/authentic-ecumenism\/\">Authentic Ecumenism<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-end-of-ecumenism\/\">The End of Ecumenism<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_16284_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_16284_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> But love can no more exist without truth than a fish can exist without the ocean. Hence, even love<em> &#8220;rejoices with the truth.&#8221; <\/em>For truth is what leads us along the way to life in God. And &#8220;the way&#8221; Jesus showed us to reach &#8220;the life&#8221; is through the Catholic Church, the repository of truth. There is no other way left us by Christ. And if you say to me, &#8220;Wait, Jesus said that <em>He <\/em>was the way, not the Church,&#8221; then I ask you, &#8220;Who is the Church but the <em>body of Christ<\/em>&#8220;?<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">In today&#8217;s Gospel, Jesus says,<em> &#8220;wisdom is vindicated by all her children.<\/em>&#8221; In the era of peace to come, <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_16284_1('footnote_plugin_reference_16284_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_16284_1('footnote_plugin_reference_16284_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_16284_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_16284_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-popes-and-a-dawning-new-age\/\">The Popes, and the Dawning Era<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_16284_1_2').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_16284_1_2', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script>\u00a0there will be one flock, one shepherd, one witness to the Christian faith that will reach to the ends of the earth before that final conflagration that will usher in a New Heavens and a New Earth. All peoples will see that Christ did not establish a Church of divisions, but unity\u2014a unity of love <em>and <\/em>truth.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">And that which is not built on this rock will crumble.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>\u201cAnd they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.\u201d May God\u2026 shortly bring to fulfillment His prophecy for transforming this consoling vision of the future into a present reality\u2026 It is God\u2019s task to bring about this happy hour and to make it known to all\u2026 When it does arrive, it will turn out to be a solemn hour, one big with consequences not only for the restoration of the Kingdom of Christ, but for the pacification of\u2026 the world.
