I think it is no coincidence that this writing falls again on this feast&#8230; for what is coming has very much to do with the decisive battle between the Woman and the dragon.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><em><strong>Caution<\/strong>: the following contains mature themes that may not be suitable for younger readers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">THE DEBRIS<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/persecution-spiritual-tsunami\/\">Moral Tsunami<\/a><\/em> is essentially a description of the sexual revolution that has swept through modern civilization. The three waves of <em>contraception, cultural immorality, <\/em>and <em>pornography <\/em>have virtually destroyed the moral foundations of society\u2014particularly in the West (which has merely exported debauchery to the rest of the world.) <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_1');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_1');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_1\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/mystery-babylon\/\"><em>Mystery Babylon<\/em><\/a> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-fall-of-mystery-babylon\/\">The Fall of Mystery Babylon<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> What we are seeing today is the <em>debris<\/em> left behind these destructive waves. Everything today has been covered in the silt of impurity; the definition of marriage has been toppled; and our sexual identities, which carry a theology of the image of God, have splintered into a multitude of ambiguities. Pope Benedict&#8217;s comparison of our times to the collapse of the Roman Empire is even more relevant now than when he spoke of it at Christmas four years ago:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>The disintegration of the key principles of law and of the fundamental moral attitudes underpinning them burst open the dams, which until that time, had protected peaceful coexistence among peoples. The sun was setting over an entire world&#8230; To resist this eclipse of reason and to preserve its capacity for seeing the essential, for seeing God and man, for seeing what is good and what is true, is the common interest that must unite all people of good will. I don&#8217;t know how else to describe what amounts to a near &#8220;conspiracy against purity.&#8221; Indeed, as I explained in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-fall-of-mystery-babylon\/\">The Fall of Mystery Babylon<\/a>, <\/em>the goals of Communism were precisely to infiltrate and undermine Western society, as former FBI agent, Cleon Skousen, detailed in 1958 in his book, <em>The Naked Communist<\/em>. Among their 45 goals were these three:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>#25: Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>#20, 21: Infiltrate the press. Gain control of key positions in radio, tv, and motion pictures.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>#26: Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as \u201cnormal, natural, healthy.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2014cf. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Naked_Communist\">Wikipedia; these goals were read into the Congressional Record\u2013Appendix, pp. A34-A35, January 10, 1963<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">In 1958, those goals might have been considered laughable at a time when even the word &#8220;pregnant&#8221; could not be said on the <em>I Love Lucy Show. <\/em><span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_4');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_4');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_4\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[4]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_4\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <a href=\"http:\/\/disruptthenarrative.com\/2013\/01\/08\/45-communist-goals-by-dr-cleon-skousen-1958\/\">disrupthenarrative.com<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_4').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_4', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> But today, these goals have been far exceeded, as there are virtually no limits to indecency. I watched a video trailer on MTV&#8217;s website of <em><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/japan_tsunami_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"274\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"2\" \/><\/em>a program for youth that runs in prime time called &#8220;1 Girl 5 Gays&#8221;. The host asked the five gay men on her panel what they preferred: oral or anal &#8220;sex&#8221; <em>with their mouths. <\/em>That this program has aired repeatedly in millions of homes now with barely a protest is a clear sign of the times.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">In fact, lewd gay humor is now standard fare on nearly every sitcom and edgy talk radio show. Raunchiness on prime time television is the new &#8220;community standard.&#8221; In movies,\u00a02014 has seen a veritable explosion of mainstream actors and actresses appearing in sexually explicit scenes. The music industry has clearly lost its soul as the Taylor Swifts, Beyonc\u00e9s, and Miley Cyruses have sold their bodies to sell records; music videos today are routinely nothing short of soft porn. Books, like<em> Fifty Shades of Grey<\/em> that promote violent sex, are not only lauded, but turned into graphic films. Shopping malls and boutiques routinely display scantily clad women in huge lingerie posters. And what needs to be said about the Internet? Like a powerful destructive wave, it has pushed every imaginable (and even unimaginable) filth into the very sanctity of offices, homes, and bedrooms putting the final exclamation point on the &#8220;liberty&#8221; sought by the sexual revolution.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">If you want to know what the &#8220;end times&#8221; looks like, there you have it. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_5');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_5');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_5\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[5]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_5\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. 2 Tim 3:1-4; Rom 1:24-25<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_5').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_5', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Given that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/mystery-babylon\/\">Mystery Babylon<\/a> (plausibly <em>America) <\/em>has become one of the greatest exporters of impurity to the world, the words of Revelation bear a haunting semblance:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great. She has become a haunt for demons. She is a cage for every unclean spirit, a cage for every unclean bird, a cage for every unclean and disgusting beast. For all the nations have drunk the wine of her licentious passion. The kings of the earth had intercourse with her&#8230; (Rev 18:1-3)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Impurity has swept over the world so pervasively, so steadily, that even Christians today hardly react to what should be an instinctive<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/ScreenShot2014-12-11at10_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"235\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"2\" \/> revulsion to that which <em>distorts<\/em> the true beauty of the human body and gift that sex is. But then, when polls suggest that nearly 77 percent of Christian men admit to watching porn on a monthly basis, <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_6');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_6');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_6\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[6]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_6\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. &#8220;Survey: Alarming rate of Christian men look at porn, commit adultery&#8221;, Oct. 9th, 2014; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onenewsnow.com\/culture\/2014\/10\/09\/survey-alarming-rate-of-christian-men-look-at-porn-commit-adultery\">onenewsnow.com<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_6').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_6', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> the story tells itself\u2014perhaps the story of Revelation of the battle between the Woman, who represents Mary and the People of God, and the serpent, Satan:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with the flood. (Rev 12:15)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Indeed, could we not say that it is precisely a flood of impurity in the body of Christ, particularly the priesthood, that has destroyed the moral credibility of the Church, which according to Benedict, is essentially that entity which holds back <em>lawlessness?<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Abraham, the father of faith, is by his faith the rock that holds back chaos, the onrushing primordial flood of destruction, and thus sustains creation. Simon, the first to confess Jesus as the Christ\u2026 now becomes by virtue of his Abrahamic faith, which is renewed in Christ, the rock that stands against the impure tide of unbelief and its destruction of man.<\/strong> \u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI (Cardinal Ratzinger),<em> Called to Communion, Understanding the Church Today<\/em>, Adrian Walker, Tr., p. 55-56<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">That is to say, when the moral voice of Peter, the Pope, has been so diminished by scandal within the flock, could this not already be the beginning of the removal of that restrainer?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. (2 Thess 2:7)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Lawlessness is what fills a moral vacuum. So these social ills are actually symptoms of a greater disease:<em> loss of faith in God<\/em>. And this is preparing the world for the next, and most dangerous wave&#8230;<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">THE SPIRITUAL TSUNAMI<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">All of the <em>lawlessness <\/em>that I&#8217;ve just described is preparation for the coming of the <em>lawless one<\/em>, who is preceded by an &#8220;apostasy&#8221;, a rebellion, a great falling away from the faith: <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_7');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_17320_1('footnote_plugin_reference_17320_1_7');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_7\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[7]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_7\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\"><em>&#8220;Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition.&#8221;<\/em> (2 Thess 2:3) <\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_17320_1_7').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_17320_1_7', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thess 2:9-11)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">While the timing of the Antichrist remains a mystery, we are <span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/masked_man_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"274\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"2\" \/><\/strong><\/span>beginning to see mainstream writers such as Msgr. Charles Pope echo what the Holy Pontiffs\u00a0have been saying for the last century: that the times of the <em>lawless one <\/em>appear to be drawing closer:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Where are we now in an eschatological sense? It is arguable that we are in the midst of the <em>rebellion<\/em> and that in fact a strong delusion has come upon many, many people. It is this delusion and rebellion that foreshadows what will happen next:<em> and the man of lawlessness will be revealed<\/em>.<\/strong> \u2014article, Msgr. Charles Pope,<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.adw.org\/2014\/11\/are-these-the-outer-bands-of-a-coming-judgment\/\">&#8220;Are These the Outer Bands of a Coming Judgment?&#8221;<\/a><\/em>, November 11th, 2014; <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.adw.org\/2014\/11\/are-these-the-outer-bands-of-a-coming-judgment\/\">blog<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">I mean, what would Pope St. Pius X say if he were alive today after having penned the following in an encyclical in 1903?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Who can fail to see that society is at the present time, more than in any past age, suffering from a terrible and deep-rooted malady which, developing every day and eating into its inmost being, is dragging it to destruction? You understand, Venerable Brethren, what this disease is\u2014<em>apostasy<\/em> from God\u2026 <em>there may be already in the world<\/em> the \u201cSon of Perdition\u201d of whom the Apostle speaks.<\/strong> \u2014POPE ST. PIUS X,<em> E Supremi<\/em>, Encyclical <em>On the Restoration of All Things in Christ<\/em>, n. 3, 5; October 4th, 1903<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Furthermore, we are not speaking of the end of the world, but the end of this age, according to the Early Church Fathers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the &#8220;mystery of iniquity&#8221; in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.<\/span><\/strong> \u2014<em>Catechism of the Catholic Church, <\/em>n. 675<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Is man not glorifying himself when he acts like a god, treating life like it is disposable, to be taken or created at whim? Indeed, it would seem to me that this Spiritual Tsunami is beginning to reach mankind&#8217;s shores, carrying on its crest <em>The Black Ship&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">THE ARK OF REFUGE<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Many do not fathom that coming times will not be navigated <em>except<\/em> by supernatural grace. <em>I beg you to hear this warning<\/em>: take the time left, which is short, to solidify your relationship with God. Or put bluntly by St&#8217;s. Paul, John, and Peter:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">Become sober as you ought and stop sinning. For some have no knowledge of God; I say this to your shame&#8230; Come out of [Babylon], my people,\u00a0lest you take part in her sins,\u00a0lest you share in her plagues; for her sins are heaped high as heaven&#8230; Be prudent therefore, and watch in prayers&#8230; \u00a0(1 Cor 15:34; 1 Pet 4:7; Rev 18:4-5)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Yes: <em>pray, pray, pray.<\/em> It is in prayer that you will grow close to God and learn to distinguish between the voice of the Good Shepherd and that of the <em>wolf. <\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">When Our Lady of Fatima said&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God. <\/span><\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2014revelation given to Sr. Lucia on June 13th, 1917; cf. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewtn.com\/library\/MARY\/FIRSTSAT.HTM\">ewtn.com<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">&#8230;she was not being poetic. She really will be our refuge against the <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/olg-dragon_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"350\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"2\" \/>&#8220;strong delusion&#8221; that is already swelling like a wave. When the flood of the dragon&#8217;s persecutions and deceptions attack the Woman of Revelation, St. John writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">&#8230;the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon had poured from his mouth. For Jesus himself promised:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">Because you have kept my message of endurance, I will keep you safe in the time of trial that is going to come to the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
