And oh, how the past year and a half has lived up to that word! The Synod, the Supreme Courts&#8217; decisions in several countries, the spontaneous interviews with Pope Francis, the media spins\u2026 In fact, my writing apostolate since Benedict resigned has been devoted almost entirely to dealing with <i>fear <\/i>and <i>confusion,<\/i> for these are the modes by which the powers of darkness operate. As Archbishop Charles Chaput remarked after the Synod last Fall, \u201cconfusion is of the devil.\u201d<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_1');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_1');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_1\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. October 21st, 2014; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.religionnews.com\/2014\/10\/21\/archbishop-chaput-blasts-vatican-debate-family-says-confusion-devil\/\">RNS<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>And so, I have spent hundreds of hours in my writings and personal communications to encourage you in Christ and His promises that, ultimately,<i> the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church<\/i>. As Pope Francis pointed out:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>&#8230;many forces have tried, and still do, to destroy the Church, from without as well as within, but they themselves are destroyed and the Church remains alive and fruitful\u2026 she remains inexplicably solid\u2026 <\/b><b>kingdoms, peoples, cultures, nations, ideologies, powers have passed, but the Church, founded on Christ, notwithstanding the many storms and our many sins, remains ever faithful to the deposit of faith shown in service; for the Church does not belong to popes, bishops, priests, nor the lay faithful; the Church in every moment belongs solely to Christ.<\/b>\u2014POPE FRANCIS, Homily, June\u00a029th, 2015; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americamagazine.org\/content\/dispatches\/pope-francis-those-who-have-tried-destroy-church-throughout-history-are\">www.americamagazine.org<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But the gates of hell might <i>appear <\/i>to prevail. Indeed, the <i>Catechism<\/i> teaches:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif; color: #000080;\"><b>The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection&#8230; Before Christ&#8217;s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 2px 5px 2px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/1_judas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"209\" height=\"187\" data-position=\"0\" \/>many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the &#8220;mystery of iniquity&#8221; in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of <\/b><b>God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.<\/b><\/span> \u2014<i>Catechism of the Catholic Church, <\/i>n. 677, 675<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-hour-of-lawlessness\/\"><i>The Hour of Lawlessness<\/i><\/a>, I warned that the framework of this \u201csupreme religious deception\u201d is rapidly being put into place. As Monsignor Charles Pope wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>Where are we now in an eschatological sense? It is arguable that we are in the midst of the rebellion [apostasy] and that in fact a strong delusion has come upon many, many people. It is this delusion and rebellion that foreshadows what will happen next: <i>and the man of lawlessness will be revealed<\/i>.<\/b> \u2014article, Msgr. Charles Pope, \u201cAre These the Outer Bands of a Coming Judgment?\u201d, November 11th, 2014; blog<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some of you might startle at these words, afraid that you might be drawn into this delusion as well. The Lord knows your concerns and heart, which is why I feel His strong hand urging me to write more about this coming deception. It is so subtle, so pervasive, so close to the truth, that once you understand what Satan<i> <\/i>is trying to achieve, I believe you will gain a strong foothold\u00a0in the present and coming Storm. For&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">&#8230;you, brothers, are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. (1 Thess 5:4)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>THE STRONG DELUSION<\/p>\n<p>St. Paul warned of this \u201cstrong delusion\u201d that God permits for the obstinate&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">&#8230;because they have not accepted the love of truth so that they may be saved. Therefore, God is sending them a <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" style=\"float: right; margin: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/storm-tsunami_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"195\" height=\"173\" data-position=\"2\" \/>deceiving power so that they may believe the lie, that all who have not believed the truth but have approved wrongdoing may be condemned. (2 Thess 2:10-12)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We have a hint of the <i>nature <\/i>of this deceiving power in the prophetic book of Isaiah:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">Therefore, thus says the Holy One of Israel: Because you reject this word, and <i>put your trust in oppression and deceit<\/i>, and <i>depend<\/i> on them, this iniquity of yours shall be like a descending rift bulging out in a high wall whose crash comes suddenly, in an instant\u2026 (Isaiah 30: 12-13)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Who would put their trust in \u201c<i>oppression<\/i> and <i>deceit<\/i>\u201d? You would only do so if the oppressor and deceiver seemed as though they were a <i>good <\/i>thing, a very good thing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>COMPETING VISIONS<\/p>\n<p>There are two visions for the future of humanity: one is Christ\u2019s, the other is Satan\u2019s, and these two visions are now entering into a \u201cfinal confrontation\u201d with one another. The deception is that Satan\u2019s vision looks, in many ways, much like Christ\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Christ\u2019s vision<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Did you know that Jesus also foretold of a \u201cnew world order\u201d? Indeed, He prayed for a time when all divisions would end and&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">&#8230;that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. (John 17:21)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>St. John saw this &#8220;happy hour&#8221; in a vision, a time when Satan would be chained for \u201ca thousand years\u201d and the <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 2px 5px 2px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/1_ecuador_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"264\" data-position=\"0\" \/>Church would reign with Christ to the ends of the earth during that time until a final satanic revolt brings about the end of the world. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. Rev 20;7-11<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_2').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_2', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> This reign of the \u201ckingdom\u201d is synonymous with the reign of the Church.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>The <\/b><b>Catholic Church, which is the kingdom of Christ on earth, [is] destined to be spread among all men and all nations\u2026<\/b> \u2014POPE PIUS XI, <i>Quas Primas<\/i>, Encyclical, n. 12, Dec. 11th, 1925; cf. Matt 24:14<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>\u201cAnd they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.\u201d May God\u2026 shortly bring to fulfillment His prophecy for transforming this consoling vision of the future into a present reality\u2026\u00a0<\/strong><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett\n.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Pius_XI_000.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"213\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"5\" \/><\/strong><strong>It is God\u2019s task to bring about this happy hour and to make it known to all\u2026 When it does arrive, it will turn out to be a solemn hour, one big with consequences not only for the restoration of the Kingdom of Christ, but for the pacification of\u2026 the world. <\/strong>\u00a0\u2014POPE PIUS XI,<em>\u00a0Ubi Arcani dei Consilioi \u201cOn the Peace of Christ in his Kingdom\u201d<\/em>, December 23, 1922<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Which is why, in St. John\u2019s vision, the \u201celders\u201d in Heaven exclaim:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">You made them a kingdom and priests for our God, and they will reign on earth\u2026 they will reign with him for the thousand years. (Rev 5:10; 20:5)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The early Church Fathers understood this to be a \u201cspiritual\u201d reign (not the heresy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/millenarianism-what-it-is-and-is-not\/\">millenarianism<\/a>), <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_3');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_3');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_3\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[3]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_3\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/how-the-era-was-lost\/\"><i>How the Era was Lost<\/i><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/millenarianism-what-it-is-and-is-not\/\"><i>Millenarianism: What It Is and Is Not<\/i><\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_3').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_3', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> and confirmed that this was part of Apostolic teaching:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>A man among us named John, one of Christ\u2019s Apostles, received and foretold that the followers of Christ would dwell in Jerusalem for a thousand years, and that afterwards the universal and, in short, everlasting resurrection and judgment would take place.<\/b> \u2014St. Justin Martyr, &#8220;Dialogue with Trypho&#8221;, Ch. 81, <i>The Fathers of the Church<\/i>, Christian Heritage<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>Those who saw John, the Lord\u2019s disciple, [tell us] that they heard from him how the Lord taught and spoke about these times\u2026<\/b> \u2014St. Irenaeus of Lyons, Church Father (140\u2013202 A.D.); <i>Adversus Haereses<\/i>, Irenaeus of Lyons, V.33.3.4, <i>The Fathers of the Church<\/i>, CIMA Publishing<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin: 5px auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/steubenville-adoration_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"300\" data-position=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This \u201cnew world order\u201d would be a time of peace, justice, and harmony among peoples, nations, and even creation itself, centered upon the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus\u2014a <i>vindication <\/i>of<i> <\/i>the Word of God over the satanic lie. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_4');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_4');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_4\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[4]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_4\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-vindication-of-wisdom\/\"><i>The Vindication of Wisdom<\/i><\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_4').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_4', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> As Jesus said,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">&#8230;this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matt 24:14)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But before that time, Jesus warned that the Church was going to face a great trial, that she would be \u201chated by all nations\u201d, that \u201cfalse prophets\u201d would arise and \u201cbecause of the increase of evildoing, the love of many will grow cold.\u201d <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_5');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_5');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_5\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[5]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_5\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. Matt 24:9-12<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_5').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_5', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Why? Because the Church will appear to conflict with a \u201cbetter\u201d vision\u2014<i>Satan\u2019s<\/i> vision.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Satan\u2019s vision<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Satan\u2019s plan for humanity was revealed in the Garden of Eden:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">&#8230;when you eat of [the tree of knowledge] your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, who know good and evil. (Gen 3:5)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The satanic delusion was and is precisely what the <i>Catechism<\/i> warns:\u00a0\u201ca pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.\u201d We have already seen versions <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right alignright\" style=\"margin-right: 2px; margin-left: 2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/kim-jong-un-women_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"422\" data-position=\"2\" \/>of this false utopia in what Our Lady of Fatima called the \u201cerrors&#8221; of Russia\u2014Marxism, communism, fascism, socialism, etc. But in these last times, they are combining to form an indomitable Beast who will promise peace, security, and harmony among peoples amid a world torn apart by war, injustice, and disaster. Just as Isaiah prophesied that the nations would put their trust in \u201coppression and deceit\u201d and even \u201cdepend\u201d on it, <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_6');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_6');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_6\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[6]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_6\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-great-deception-part-ii\/\"><i>The Great Deception \u2014 Part II<\/i><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_6').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_6', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> <\/a>so too, St. John saw that the world would bow to this Beast:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">All the inhabitants of the earth will worship it, all whose names were not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life\u2026 (Rev 13:8)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>They will worship the \u201cbeast\u201d precisely because it looks more like an \u201cangel of light\u201d. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_7');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_7');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_7\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[7]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_7\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. 2 Cor 11:14<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_7').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_7', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> This Beast will save a world self-destructing in revolution by bringing about a new economic system to replace failed capitalism, <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_8');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_8');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_8\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[8]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_8\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. It will be a &#8220;new age&#8221; when man grasps the ancient lie that he can be &#8220;like gods.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>When our founders declared a \u201cnew order of the ages\u201d\u2026 they were acting on an ancient hope that is meant to be fulfilled.<\/b> \u2014President George Bush Jr., speech on Inauguration Day, January 20th, 2005<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Indeed,\u00a0the prayer of Jesus was that, through unity, we would come to a state of perfection as a witness to the world:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">\u2026that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us\u2026 that they may be brought to <em>perfection<\/em> as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. (John 17:21-23)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">And thus Satan has promised a false \u201cperfection\u201d as well, primarily to those attempting to bring about this \u201cnew age\u201d through\u00a0the\u00a0\u201chidden knowledge\u201d of secret<em> societies:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Among the ancient Greeks, \u2018the mysteries\u2019 were religious rites and ceremonies practiced by <em>secret societie<\/em>s into which any one who so desired might be received. Those who were initiated into these mysteries became possessors of certain knowledge, which was not imparted to the uninitiated, and were called \u2018the perfected.\u2019<\/strong> \u2014<em>Vines Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, <\/em>W.E. Vine, Merrill F. Unger, William White, Jr., p. 424<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.<\/b> \u2014David Rockefeller, a prominent member of secret societies including the Illuminati, the Skull and Bones, and The Bilderberg Group; speaking at the UN, Sept. 14, 1994<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>COMPETING LANGUAGE<\/p>\n<p>And here, brothers and sisters, is where the <i>parallel<\/i> <i>deception<\/i> enters. And I say parallel, because the vision of Christ and Satan, although opposed, actually run parallel to one another in their vision for a new era. Their end is completely different\u2014as different as the moon is from the Sun. For the moon reflects something of the light of the Sun, but falls well short of being a star itself.<\/p>\n<p>Go back to the serpent\u2019s lie in the Garden of Eden. He said \u201cyou shall be like gods.\u201d You know, there is some truth to that. We <i>are <\/i>like gods in the sense that we are immortal. But what Satan said and what he <i>intends<\/i> are two different things. He is coaxing our world today to become more humane, more ecological, <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right alignright\" style=\"margin-right: 2px; margin-left: 2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pantheist.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"212\" data-position=\"2\" \/>more peaceful, more united, and yes, even more \u201cspiritual\u201d\u2014all fine\u2014but <i>without<\/i> God. It is&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>&#8230;the goal of superseding or transcending particular religions in order to create space for a <i>universal religion<\/i> which could unite humanity. Closely related to this is a very concerted effort on the part of many institutions to invent a Global Ethic.<\/b> \u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/roman_curia\/pontifical_councils\/interelg\/documents\/rc_pc_interelg_doc_20030203_new-age_en.html\"><i>Jesus Christ, The Bearer of the Water of Life<\/i><\/a>, n. 2.5 , Pontifical Councils for Culture and Inter-religious Dialogue<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This new \u201creligion&#8221; and \u201cethic&#8221; is coming into existence\u00a0today by embracing and encouraging \u201clove&#8221; while rejecting any notion of immutable truth. So on the one hand, the language of tolerance, inclusivity, and love is becoming more prevalent while those who embrace unchanging truths, such as traditional marriage, are deemed intolerant, exclusive, and unloving. In this way, the \u201cold religion\u201d is being slowly exterminated. As Pope Benedict warned:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>A new intolerance is spreading\u2026 \u2026an abstract, negative religion is being made into a tyrannical standard that everyone must follow. In reality, however, this development increasingly leads to an intolerant claim of a new religion\u2026 which knows all and, therefore, defines the frame of reference that is now supposed to apply to everyone. In the name of tolerance, tolerance is being abolished.<\/b> \u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI, <i>Light of the World, A Conversation with Peter Seewald<\/i>, p. 52<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>In this scenario, Christianity has to be eliminated and give way to a global religion and a new world order. <\/b>\u2014<i>Jesus Christ, The Bearer of the Water of Life<\/i>, n. 4, Pontifical Councils for Culture and Inter-religious\u00a0Dialogue<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>THE CHURCH AND THE NEW ORDER<\/p>\n<p>So why then\u00a0do we also hear the popes calling for a\u00a0\u201cnew world order\u201d, such as Pope <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 2px 5px 2px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/un.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"198\" data-position=\"0\" \/>Francis in his recent Encyclical, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/w2.vatican.va\/content\/francesco\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/papa-francesco_20150524_enciclica-laudato-si.html\">Laudato si\u2019<\/a><\/em><i>?<\/i><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>Interdependence obliges us to think of one world with a common plan\u2026. A global consensus is essential for confronting the deeper problems, which cannot be resolved by unilateral actions on the part of individual countries.<\/b> \u2014<i><a href=\"http:\/\/w2.vatican.va\/content\/francesco\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/papa-francesco_20150524_enciclica-laudato-si.html\">Laudauto si\u2019<\/a>, <\/i>n. 164<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Francis is echoing what his predecessor\u2019s recognized as\u00a0the emergence of \u201cglobalization\u201d and the challenges it presents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>After all this scientific and technical progress, and even because of it, the problem remains: how to build up a new order of society based on a more balanced human relationship between political communities on a national and international level?<\/b> \u2014POPE ST. For the Vicar of Christ was speaking on behalf of <i>Christ\u2019s vision, not Satan\u2019s\u2014<\/i>a vision embraced by St. John Paul II as well:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>Do not be afraid! Open, open all doors to Christ. Open borders of countries, economic and political systems\u2026<\/b> \u2014<i>Pope John Paul II: A Life in Pictures<\/i>, p. 172<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But herein lies\u00a0the difference: a new world order that opens its doors either to <i>Christ,\u00a0<\/i>or to the <i>Antichrist. <\/i>That is, said John Paul II, &#8220;Globalization, <i>a priori<\/i>, is neither good nor bad. The concern, they say, is that he seems to be playing into the hands of Satan\u2019s vision for a new world order.<\/p>\n<p>As readers know, I have defended the papacy on numerous occasions for the same reasons St. Jerome did.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>I follow no leader but Christ and join in communion\u00a0with none but your blessedness, that is, with the chair of Peter. I know that this is the rock on which <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right alignright\" style=\"margin-right: 2px; margin-left: 2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/StPeter-keys2_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"281\" data-position=\"2\" \/>the Church has been built.<\/b> \u2014St. Jerome, A.D. 396 , <\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Letters<\/i> 15:2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Pope Francis&#8217;s \u201coff the cuff\u201d remarks are admittedly often without context and seemingly naive in a media-world-with-an-agenda, they are nonetheless orthodox when placed back into context and alongside his formal teachings. Still, some\u00a0(notably Evangelical and Catholic Christians who study prophecy) are quick to draw the conclusion that Pope Francis is the \u201csecond beast\u201d of Revelation\u2014a pseudo-religious leader who deceives the nations. After all, they say, the Pope has called for \u201cone world with a common plan\u201d; he continues to meet with other religious leaders to \u201cdialogue\u201d; he has appointed men to advisory positions with questionable doctrinal positions; he has attacked capitalism; and he has written an encyclical on the environment that one Christian broadcaster lambasted as \u201cleading the world to Gaia worship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But then, Jesus Himself prayed for unity; St. Paul met with the pagan leaders of his day; <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_14');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_14');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_14\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[14]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_14\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. The problem is <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 2px 5px 2px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/overpop_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"199\" data-position=\"0\" \/>that the Club of Rome, a global think-tank, has\u00a0admitted to using \u201cglobal warming\u201d as an impetus to reduce the population of the world\u2014part of Satan\u2019s vision for a \u201cnew world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.<\/b> \u2014Alexander King &amp; Bertrand Schneider. <i>The First Global Revolution<\/i>, p. 75, 1993.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Still, brothers and sisters, \u201cglobal warming\u201d is not a matter of faith and morals, not a part of the \u201cdeposit of faith.\u201d And so Pope Francis\u00a0rightly adds:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>There are certain environmental issues where it is not easy to achieve a broad consensus. Here I would state once more that the Church does not presume to settle scientific questions or to replace politics. But I am concerned to encourage an honest and open debate so that particular interests or ideologies will not prejudice the common good.<\/b> <i>\u2014Laudato si<\/i><i>\u2019<\/i>, n. 188<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And so, a debate we have.<\/p>\n<p>Popes have made strange alliances in the past\u2014sometimes for good reasons that remained hidden for years\u2014but at the end of the day, the Church and her infallible truths remained long after the players departed this life. And thus, the Petrine promises of Christ shine even brighter, despite the personal fallibility of the pontiffs.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>For with the same realism with which we declare today the sins of the popes and their disproportion to the magnitude of their commission, we must also acknowledge that Peter has repeatedly stood as the rock against ideologies, <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right alignright\" style=\"margin-right: 2px; margin-left: 2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/peter-fay-rock-in-water_Fotor.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"223\" data-position=\"2\" \/>against the dissolution of the word into the plausibilities of a given time, against subjection to the powers of this world. When we see this in the facts of history, we are not celebrating men but praising the Lord, who does not abandon the Church and who desired to manifest that he is the rock through Peter, the little stumbling stone: \u201cflesh and blood\u201d do not save, but the Lord saves through those who are flesh and blood. To deny this truth is not a plus of faith, not a plus of humility, but is to shrink from the humility that recognizes God as he is.<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"> \u2014Cardinal Ratzinger (POPE BENEDICT XVI), <\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Called to Communion, Understanding the Church Today<\/i><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">, Ignatius Press, p. 73-74<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SPEAKING TO THE WORLD AT THIS HOUR<\/p>\n<p>Just as Jesus spoke in parables, Pope Francis is purposely setting out to speak to the world, often in their\u00a0language. This is not compromise, but much the same tactic St. Paul took when quoting the poets of the day to the Romans. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_20');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_20012_1('footnote_plugin_reference_20012_1_20');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_20012_1_20\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[20]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_20012_1_20\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. (1 Cor 9:20-22)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Just as former\u00a0popes weren&#8217;t\u00a0calling forth a diabolical new world order, neither is Pope Francis eliciting one of the tenets of\u00a0Satan\u2019s vision of the New Age: a pseudo-pantheism. The\u00a0Encyclical <i>Laudato si\u2019<\/i> is a biblical call <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 2px 5px 2px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/wolf-lamb_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"300\" data-position=\"0\" \/>to true stewardship of creation and, in fact, a prophetic vision of what the true Era of Peace will be after the defeat of Antichrist.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb,<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">The calf and the young lion shall browse together,<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">with a little child to guide them\u2026 for the earth shall be filled with knowledge of the Lord, as water covers the sea. (Isaiah 11:6-9)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some concerned Catholics today are contemplating abandoning the Barque of Peter, afraid that the Pope is going to sail her straight into the mouth of the Beast. But to exchange the rock of Christ\u2019s infallible promises for the shifting sands of one\u2019s own \u201cfeelings\u201d and calculations is the true danger. For the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/fatima-and-the-great-shaking\/\">Great Shaking<\/a><\/em><i>\u00a0<\/i>that is coming to the world is going to sift the faithful from the unfaithful, and everything that has been built on sand will crumble. It is the &#8220;labor pains&#8221; that eventually give birth to a new era, leaving behind the old wine skin so as to bring the Church into the pinnacle of the fullness of time: Christ\u2019s vision for a new world order: one flock, one shepherd, one family of many nations, cultures, tongues, and races.<\/p>\n<p>That is, a Bride ready to receive her King.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice:\u00a0\u201cSalvation comes from our God, who is seated on the throne,\u00a0and from the Lamb&#8230; Amen.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>We implore [Mary\u2019s] maternal intercession that the Church may become a home for many peoples, a mother for all peoples, and that the way may be opened to the birth of a new world. It is the Risen Christ who tells us, with a power that fills us with confidence and unshakeable hope: \u201cBehold, I make all things new\u201d (Rev 21:5).
