One of those messages had to do with what it means to be a true woman, and thus, a true man. While the Church is&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>\u2026turning our eyes to the future, we confidently await the dawn of a new Day\u2026 God is preparing a great springtime for Christianity and we can already see its first signs. Oh, how true were the warnings of Pope Paul VI when he spoke of the consequences of artificial contraception!\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Let them first consider how easily this course of action could open wide the way for marital infidelity and a general lowering of moral standards&#8230; Another effect that gives cause for alarm is that a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection.<\/strong> \u2014<em>Humanae Vitae,\u00a0<\/em>n. 17; <a href=\"http:\/\/w2.vatican.va\/content\/paul-vi\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_p-vi_enc_25071968_humanae-vitae.html\">vatican.va<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What God has desired most, from the moment of Adam and Eve&#8217;s fall, was for them to become themselves again: for man and woman to be restored in the image of Love. Thus Satan has attacked the very essence of what love is, twisting its meaning into lust, mere attraction, sensuality, desire, attachment, etc.. Reducing love exclusively to\u00a0<em>eros\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0&#8220;erotic&#8221; love, Satan has deceived a good portion of mankind into believing that\u00a0<em>eros<\/em>\u00a0is an end in itself, and thus, any expression of erotic love\u2014whether it is between two men or two women\u2014is acceptable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>&#8230;this counterfeit divinization of<i>\u00a0eros<\/i>\u00a0actually strips it of its dignity and dehumanizes it&#8230; An intoxicated and undisciplined <em>eros,\u00a0<\/em>then, is not an ascent in \u201cecstasy\u201d towards the Divine, but a fall, a degradation of man.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI,\u00a0<em>Deus Caritas,\u00a0<\/em>n. 4; <a href=\"http:\/\/w2.vatican.va\/content\/benedict-xvi\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20051225_deus-caritas-est.html\">vatican.va<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is why Jesus revealed\u00a0<em>agape\u00a0<\/em>love, which is selfless, a gift of oneself to another. But in such a giving, the dignity and reality of the other person is always considered, never exploited. It therefore also the path to authentic freedom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Freedom cannot be understood as a license to do<i>\u00a0absolutely anything:\u00a0<\/i>it means a\u00a0<i>gift of self.\u00a0<\/i>Even more: it means an\u00a0<\/strong><i><strong>interior discipline of the gift.<\/strong> \u2014<\/i>POPE ST. JOHN PAUL II,\u00a0<em>Letter to Families, Gratissimam Sane,\u00a0<\/em>n. 14; <a href=\"https:\/\/w2.vatican.va\/content\/john-paul-ii\/en\/letters\/1994\/documents\/hf_jp-ii_let_02021994_families.html\">vatican.ca<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">THE ANTI-WOMAN AND ANTI-MAN<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-30802\" style=\"margin: 2px 5px 2px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ourladylight2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ourladylight2.jpg 444w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ourladylight2-188x300.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/>During that scene at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/31\/summoned-to-the-gates\/\">Arc\u0101theos<\/a> when &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/09\/our-lady-of-light-comes\/\">Our Lady<\/a>&#8221; appeared, many of us felt the Blessed Mother&#8217;s presence among us, including the actress who portrayed her, Emily Price. The next day, I asked Emily what she experienced.\u00a0She said, \u201cI have never felt so\u00a0<em>feminine<\/em>\u00a0as I did then, but also, I felt such\u00a0<em>strength.<\/em>&#8221; In those\u00a0two words\u2014which I believe were an <em>experience\u00a0<\/em>of the Blessed Virgin&#8217;s womanhood\u2014Emily conveyed what a true woman is.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Woman vs. the anti-woman<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The true and unique strength of a woman lies in her innate tenderness, sensitivity, and wisdom that is expressed most profoundly in her maternal role. There is nothing comparable on earth to a mother&#8230; she who is the warmth of the home and soul of the family. Moreover, her femininity, naturally revealed in her soft skin, gentle curves, and smaller frame, is\u2014most men will agree\u2014the pinnacle of God&#8217;s creation. She manipulates her femininity to be wielded as a power to control and indulge, to entice and lure. Thus, his inner strength and virtue is in the laying down of his life for his family; of giving and providing, of leading and example, since his masculinity naturally draws respect as much as a woman&#8217;s femininity commands reverence. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The world wants to be fathered, and only a <em>man<\/em> was designed for this noble task.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">But the anti-man is a figure who not only neglects his fatherhood, but who uses his strength to dominate, control and demand. He uses his masculinity to indulge and coerce, to lust and acquire.
