\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n IT <\/strong>is Canada Day today. As we sang our national anthem after morning mass, I thought about the freedoms paid for in blood by our ancestors… freedoms which are rapidly being sucked into an ocean of moral relativism as the Moral Tsunami<\/em><\/a> continues its destruction.<\/p>\n It was two years ago that a court here ruled for the first time that a child can have three parents <\/em>(January 2007). It is certainly a first in North America, if not the world, and is only the beginning of a cascade of change which is coming. And it is a strong<\/em> sign of our times:\u00a0<\/p>\n You must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; they said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who set up divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. (Jude 18)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n I first published this article on January 9th, 2007. I have updated it…<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Divisions<\/em>. In Part I<\/a><\/em>, I spoke of the harmful dissolution of the natural distinctions between man and woman, between mankind and creation, and between man and his own nature. All of these are a fundamental attack on the building block of society, that cell called the family. <\/em>If you can destroy the family, you can destroy the future.<\/p>\n The future of the world passes through the family.\u00a0<\/strong> \u2014POPE JOHN PAUL II, Familiaris Consortio<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n There is a parallel today in science and society. Just as bio-medical engineers are now genetically altering the cells of life by creating human-animal hybrids, social engineers are altering the “genetics” of society by creating hybrid families. Two dads, two moms, two dads and a mom, two moms and a dad… and the “genetic” manipulation will continue until the original family is “better”, according to the engineers.<\/p>\n And destroyed, according to Satan.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Each family is its own unique community. More than that, it is a communion of persons.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n The Christian family constitutes a specific revelation and realization of ecclesial communion, and for this reason it can and should be called a domestic church<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>.. The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the communion of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> \u2014<\/em>Catechism of the Catholic Church<\/em>, 2204, 2205<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n So you see, to dismember the family is to destroy the “specific revelation” that the family is of the unity of the Body of Christ; it is to attack the Church by wounding the domestic church; it is to dismantle the sign and image of the Holy Trinity. But it is less about the destruction of symbols than it is about the ruination of people<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Of souls. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Yes, the consequences are evident: divorce rates are nearly fifty percent, birth rates are at all time lows, teenage suicide and sexually transmitted diseases are epidemic, and pornography is corroding fidelity.<\/p>\n And now with “gay marriage,” humanity moves into unknown territory.<\/p>\n With this tendency we go outside of the whole moral history of humanity.<\/span><\/strong> It is not a question of discrimination, but rather a question of what is a human person insofar as man and woman. We are facing a dissolution of the image of the human being, with consequences which can be extremely grave.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong>\u2014Cardinal Ratzinger (<\/span>POPE BENEDICT XVI )<\/span>, Rome, May 14th,\u00a0 2004; ZENIT News Service<\/em> \u00a0 There is one stumbling block left for the social engineers: to remove the obstacle to world-wide acceptance of alternative families, and indeed, homosexuality itself. In an open<\/em> editorial criticizing the outspoken Canadian cleric, Bishop Fred Henry, members of one of Canada’s strongest gay advocacy groups echoed what is a world-wide movement:<\/p>\n …we predict that gay marriage will indeed result in the growth of acceptance of homosexuality now underway, as Henry fears. But marriage equality will also contribute to the abandonment of toxic religions, liberating society from the prejudice and hatred that has polluted culture for too long, thanks in part to Fred Henry and his kind.<\/strong> —<\/span>Kevin Bourassa and Joe Varnell, Purging Toxic Religion in Canada<\/em>; January 18th, 2005; EGALE (<\/span>Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Someday, and perhaps soon, Christians will be considered the real terrorists: disrupters of peace and harmony who must be taken out of the way. <\/em><\/span>It is then that we will be <\/span>either<\/span> fools for Christ\u2014or schismatics. The choice will be one or the other.<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, since I first published this article, the United States Department of Homeland Security has labeled pro-lifers as a potential threat to homeland security. In their document entitled <\/span>Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment<\/em>, it refers to rightwing extremists<\/span> which “may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration…” and those who are “antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues.” The message: Americans who oppose the president on issues such as life may be deemed domestic terrorists (see LifeSiteNews<\/a><\/em>, April 15th, 2009.) <\/span><\/p>\n Clear lines were drawn in a recent speech by President Barack Obama to a gathering of homosexual advocates at the Whitehouse: We must continue to do our part to make progress\u2014step by step, law by law, mind by changing mind… And I want you to know that in this task I will not only be your friend, I will continue to be an ally and a champion and a President who fights with you and for you.<\/span>..\u00a0<\/span><\/strong> (LifeSiteNews<\/em><\/a>, June 30th, 2009) <\/span>…there are still fellow citizens, perhaps neighbors or even family members and loved ones, who still hold fast to worn arguments and old attitudes\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong>(CatholicCulture.org<\/em>, June 30th, 2009).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n THE FALSE UNITY The false unity is coming about. And when it culminates, it will be as brief as an eclipse of the sun. Much depends o n our own prayer, penance, and voice<\/em>s crying out in the wilderness against the cultural tide… for after that will come Christ’s Unity. <\/em>The end of this story is not grim, but one which causes joy to rise up in me like an artesian well. In fact, we can hasten that Divine Unity\u00a0 <\/em>as we pray, ‘Thy kingdom come.”\u00a0 <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Be informed, but not afraid.<\/span> And so… we continue to “watch and pray.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Plans to give legal recognition to other forms of union (than marriage) … appear dangerous and counterproductive, because they will inevitably weaken and destabilize the legitimate family based on marriage… The family founded on marriage (is) a basic human good.<\/strong> \u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI, \n
