But He is also <em>King<\/em> to whom judgment of the world belongs. All of the aforementioned titles are beautiful \u2014 but they&#8217;re also meaningless unless Jesus is <em>just, <\/em>unless there is an accountability for every thought, word, and action. Otherwise, He would be a partial judge, and love and truth would be an ever shifting ideal. No, this is His world. We are His creatures. He is allowed to set the terms of not only our participation in His creation but of our communion with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And how beautiful His terms are:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. There is coming a Great Reckoning for all of humanity, a reckoning to our King who loved and died for us. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.<\/strong> (Matthew 6:10)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>First, this prayer teaches us that Jesus&#8217;s kingdom is synonymous with the Father&#8217;s Will. This is why He said,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to finish his work&#8230; A son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for what he does, his son will do also&#8230;. <\/strong>(John 4:34, 5:19)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here we come to the crux of why Jesus took on our human nature: to repair, or rather, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-resurrection-of-the-church\/\"><em>resurrect<\/em><\/a> in the human race the gift we once possessed in the Garden of Eden: to participate and live in the Divine Will and thus share in all of God&#8217;s divine acts.<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_8');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_8');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_8\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[8]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_8\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/true-sonship\/\">True Sonship<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_8').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_8', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> It&#8217;s the difference between possessing a flashlight, our human will, or possessing the sun, the Divine Will; between being an obedient slave who receives his due wages, or being a son and daughter who is to receive their Father&#8217;s inheritance.<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_9');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_9');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_9\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[9]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_9\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. Ephesians 1:13-14, 1 Peter 3-5<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_9').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_9', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> As St. Peter said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>&#8230;He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature.<\/strong> (2 Peter 1:4)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In every single moment that Jesus lived, He was preparing the path, the &#8220;way of love&#8221;, that would allow our human nature to participate in the divine. He was restoring within the human race the Divine Will that Adam forfeited, plunging creation into sorrow after sorrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>\u201cAll creation,\u201d said St. Paul, \u201cgroans and labors up till now,\u201d awaiting Christ\u2019s redemptive efforts to restore the proper relationship between God and his creation. But Christ\u2019s redemptive act did not of itself restore all things, it simply made the work of redemption possible, it began our redemption. Just as all men share in the disobedience of Adam, so all men must share in the obedience of Christ to the Father\u2019s will.\u00a0<em>Redemption will be complete only when all men share his obedience\u2026<\/em><\/strong> \u2014Servant of God Fr. Walter Ciszek, S.J., <em>He Leadeth Me<\/em>\u00a0(San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1995), pp. 116-117<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is the mystery that is unfolding at this hour, as we heard in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/jesus-week-day-7\/\">Day 7<\/a>, that Jesus is preparing for himself a Bride who will be &#8220;without spot or wrinkle&#8230; holy and without blemish.&#8221;<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_10');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_10');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_10\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[10]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_10\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">Ephesians 5:27<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_10').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_10', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> That is, a Bride who is living in the Divine Will just as Christ did. Thus, Jesus said to Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta that the prayer of the &#8220;Our Father&#8221; still awaits its fulfillment:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><em><strong>My very prayer to the heavenly Father, \u2018May it come, may your kingdom come and your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven,\u2019 meant that with My coming to earth the Kingdom of My Will was not established among creatures, otherwise I would have said, \u2018My Father, may Our kingdom that I have already established on earth be confirmed, and let Our Will dominate and reign.\u2019 Instead I said, \u2018May it come.\u2019 This means that it must come and souls must await it with the same certainty with which they awaited the future Redeemer. For My Divine Will is bound and committed to the words of the \u2018Our Father.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\u2014Jesus to Luisa, cited in\u00a0<em>The Gift of Living in the Divine Will in the Writings of Luisa Piccarreta<\/em>\u00a0(Kindle Location 1551)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Put another way, He said to Luisa:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>I am preparing for you an era of love\u2026 these writings will be for My Church like a new sun which will rise in her midst\u2026 as the Church will be renewed, they will transform the face of the earth\u2026 the Church will receive this celestial food, which will strengthen Her and make Her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-resurrection-of-the-church\/\">rise again<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<em>in her full triumph\u2026 the generations will not end until my Will reigns upon earth.<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>\u2014February 8, 1921, February 10, 1924, February 22, 1921<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>The Kingdom of the Divine Will<\/h5>\n<p>Thus, Jesus is returning as a King to establish the Kingdom of His Divine Will \u2014 &#8220;as a witness to the nations.&#8221; We read in the Book of Revelation that after Satan, the dragon, attempts to establish his own kingdom, the kingdom of the beast or &#8220;antichrist&#8221;,<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_11');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_11');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_11\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[11]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_11\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. Out of his mouth came a sharp sword to strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he himself will tread out in the wine press the wine of the fury and wrath of God the almighty. He has a name written on his cloak and on his thigh, \u201cKing of kings and Lord of lords.&#8221;<\/strong> (Revelation 19:14-16)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The \u201ciron rod\u201d is the unbending, unshakeable, unchanging eternal \u201cDivine Will\u201d that governs the physical and spiritual laws of creation and reflects all the divine attributes of the Holy Trinity itself.<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_12');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_12');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_12\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[12]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_12\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-iron-rod\/\">The Iron Rod<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_12').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_12', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> But look what else Scripture says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">To the victor, who keeps to My ways until the end, I will give authority over the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod\u2026 And to him I will give the morning star.<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"> (Rev 2:26-28)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jesus gives to the faithful who persevere through that Great Tribulation the authority to rule with Him over the nations <em>in the Divine Will.\u00a0<\/em>He will give to His faithful &#8220;the morning star,&#8221; which Revelation 22:16 reveals is <em>Jesus Himself<\/em>. So when we say that Jesus is returning to establish His Kingdom, we &#8216;re not speaking of the heresy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/millenarianism-what-it-is-and-is-not\/\">Millenarianism<\/a> \u2014 a false expectation that Jesus will come again to <em>physically<\/em> reign on earth in a political kingdom. POPE JOHN PAUL II, General Audience, November 6th, 2002, Zenit<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>\u2026every day in the prayer of the Our Father we ask the Lord: \u201cThy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven\u201d <\/strong>(Matt 6:10)<strong>\u2026. we recognize that \u201cheaven\u201d is where the will of God is done, and that \u201cearth\u201d becomes \u201cheaven\u201d\u2014i.e., the place of the presence of love, of goodness, of truth and of divine beauty \u2014 only if on earth the will of God is done.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI, General Audience, February 1st, 2012, Vatican City<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Again, this is an <em>interior<\/em> coming of the Kingdom of God within. As St. Bernard taught:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><b>In his first coming Our Lord came in our flesh and in our weakness; in this middle coming He comes in spirit and power; in the final coming, He will be seen in glory and majesty\u2026<\/b>\u00a0\u2014St. Bernard,\u00a0<i>Liturgy of the Hours<\/i>, Vol I, p. 169<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, this so-called &#8220;middle coming&#8221; is clearly described by the Apostle St. John in the 19th and 20th chapter of Revelation. As Pope Benedict XVI affirmed:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Whereas people had previously spoken only of a twofold coming of Christ \u2014 once in Bethlehem and again at the end of time \u2014 Saint Bernard of Clairvaux spoke of an <em>adventus medius<\/em>, an intermediate coming, thanks to which [the Lord] periodically renews His intervention in history. <\/strong>\u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI, Light of the World, p.182-183, A Conversation With Peter Seewald))<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This middle coming is the fulfillment of the Our Father. Venerable Conchita describes what it means for the Father&#8217;s will to be done &#8220;on earth as it is in heaven&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><i><b>It is a union of the same nature as that of the union of heaven, except that in paradise the veil which conceals the Divinity disappears\u2026<\/b><\/i>\u00a0\u2014Jesus to Venerable Conchita, Ronda Chervin, Walk With Me Jesus; cited in <em>The Crown and Completion of All Sanctities<\/em>, Daniel O\u2019Connor, p. 12<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hence, Pope Pius XI and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-popes-and-a-dawning-new-age\/\">other popes<\/a> proclaimed this hope:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Here it is foretold that his kingdom will have no limits, and will be enriched with justice and peace: \u201cin his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace\u2026 And he shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth\u201d\u2026 When once men recognize, both in private and in public life, that Christ is King, society will at last receive the great blessings of real liberty, well-ordered discipline, peace and harmony\u2026 <\/strong>\u2014POPE PIUS XI,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/pius-xi\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_p-xi_enc_11121925_quas-primas.html\"><em>Quas Primas<\/em><\/a>, n. 8, 19; Dec. 11th, 1925<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It will only be a taste of Heaven, but is the final stepping stone before the consummation of all things.<\/p>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h5>The &#8220;signs of the times&#8221;<\/h5>\n<p>In closing, we ought to consider all this in light of the &#8220;signs of the times.&#8221; Jesus said that, prior to His return, there would &#8220;labor pains&#8221; \u2014 war, famines, earthquakes, and plagues from place to place.<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_18');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_52317_1('footnote_plugin_reference_52317_1_18');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_52317_1_18\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[18]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_52317_1_18\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf.
