THE<\/strong> past few days, my spirit has felt as if an anchor is tied around it… as if I am looking up towards the surface of the ocean at fading Sunlight, as I sink deeper and deeper into weariness. <\/p>\n At the same time, I hear a voice in my heart saying, <\/p>\n Don’t give up! Stay awake… these are the temptations of the Garden, of the ten Virgins who fell asleep before their Bridegroom’s return… <\/em><\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/font>As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. (Matt 25:5)<\/font> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n At the end of the day, I turned to the Office of Readings and read:<\/p>\n How blessed, how fortunate, are those servants whom the Lord will find watchful when he comes. Blessed is the time of waiting<\/em> when we stay awake for the Lord, the Creator of the universe, who fills all things and transcends all things. <\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n How I wish he would awaken me, his humble servant, from the sleep of slothfulness, even though I am of little worth. How I wish he would enkindle me with that fire of divine love. The flames of his love burn beyond the stars; the longing for his overwhelming delights and the divine fire ever burn within me!<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n How I wish I might deserve to have my lantern always burning at night in the temple of my Lord, to give light to all who enter the house of my God.
