In fact, <em>we know it&#8217;s not<\/em>. St. Maria Faustina Kowalska recorded this vision in 1937:<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>I saw the Lord Jesus, like a king in great majesty, looking down upon our earth with great severity; but because of His Mother\u2019s intercession <em>He prolonged the time of His mercy<\/em>\u2026<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014<em>Divine Mercy in My Soul<\/em>, Diary, n. 126I, 1160; cf.\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-king-comes\/\">The King Comes<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus told the nun, who would later be canonized:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><em><strong>I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of [sinners]. But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation\u2026\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy\u2026<\/em><\/strong>\u2014Ibid.\u00a0 n. 1160, 1588<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So, we are clearly living in an extraordinary time of grace \u2014 with an expiry date. The approaching &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-day-of-justice\/\">Day of Justice<\/a>&#8221; is essentially the same thing as what Tradition calls the &#8220;Day of the Lord.&#8221; It is a period of time (not a 24-hour day)((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/two-more-days\/\"><em>Two More Days<\/em>))<\/a> when God will both purify the earth of the wicked <em>and<\/em> fulfill His promises to the righteous.((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-thousand-years\/\"><em>The Thousand Years<\/em><\/a>)) There is no mistaking that the revelations to St. Faustina are a harbinger of how close we are to the &#8220;end times.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>You will prepare the world for My final coming&#8230; Speak to the world about My mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the Day of Justice. \u2014<\/em><\/strong>Jesus to St. Faustina,\u00a0<em>Divine Mercy in My Soul<\/em>, Diary, n. 429, 848<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>How close are we to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-tipping-point\/\">The Tipping Point<\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-tipping-point\/\">?<\/a> The following are 10 reasons why the Day of Justice may be closer than we realize and the fuse of this Time of Mercy has grown short&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>10 Reasons Why the Fuse is Short<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0I. Joel Prophesied This Hour<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It is necessary to consider the big picture, not just the context of our own time.<\/p>\n<p>No other generations in history have experienced such a proliferation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.countdowntothekingdom.com\/\">prophecy<\/a> over the course of a century. From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-marian-dimension-of-the-storm\/\">Marian apparitions<\/a>, to locutions, to prophetic utterances, dreams, and visions, there has been a veritable explosion of warnings and exhortations. In other words, it&#8217;s precisely as the prophet Joel described the period leading up to the Day of the Lord:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>&#8216;It will come to pass in the last days,\u2019 God says, \u2018that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy. And I will work wonders in the heavens above&#8230; before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord, and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.&#8217;<\/strong> (Acts 2:17-21)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">II. The Magisterium&#8217;s Warning<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the aforementioned &#8216;prophecy&#8217; falls under the category of &#8220;private revelation.&#8221; While Pope Benedict XIV said that, &#8220;One may refuse assent to &#8216;private revelation&#8217; without direct injury to Catholic Faith, as long as he does so, &#8216;modestly, not without reason, and without contempt,'&#8221;((POPE BENEDICT XIV, <i>Heroic Virtue,\u00a0<\/i>p. 397)) it would be unwise to ignore the warnings of the Magisterium itself.((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/why-arent-the-popes-shouting\/\"><em>Why Aren&#8217;t the Popes Shouting?<\/em><\/a>)) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/why-arent-the-popes-shouting\/\">Pope after pope<\/a>, since Leo XIII, has explicitly described our times in unmistakable language that unsurprisingly mirrors authentic prophecy from numerous souls. Here is but a sampling:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong> In our days this sin [of infidelity] has become so frequent that those dark times seem to have come which were foretold by St. Paul&#8230; <\/strong>(cf. 2 Thess. ii., 10)<strong> In the last times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error and the doctrines of devils.<\/strong> (1 Tim. iv., 1). \u2014POPE LEO XIII, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/holy_father\/leo_xiii\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_l-xiii_enc_09051897_divinum-illud-munus_en.html\"><em>Divinum Illud Munus<\/em><\/a>, n. 10<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>I sometimes read the Gospel passage of the end times and I attest that, at this time, some signs of this end are emerging.<\/strong> \u2014POPE PAUL VI, The Secret Paul VI, Jean Guitton, p. 152-153, Reference (7), p. ix.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>&#8230;there may be already in the world the \u201cSon of Perdition\u201d of whom the Apostle speaks.<\/strong> \u2014POPE ST. PIUS X, <em>E Supremi<\/em>, Encyclical On the Restoration of All Things in Christ, n. 3, 5; October 4th, 1903<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In this context, and in an extraordinary directive to my generation, Pope John Paul II said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Dear young people, it is up to you to be the\u00a0<em>watchmen<\/em>\u00a0of the morning who announce the coming of the sun who is the Risen Christ!<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014POPE JOHN PAUL II,\u00a0<em>Message of the Holy Father to the Youth of the World<\/em>, XVII World Youth Day, n. 3; (cf. Is 21:11-12)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">III. The &#8220;sense of the faithful&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Even if many have never had a vision, dream, or audible word from the Lord, all the baptized share in the &#8220;priestly, prophetic, and kingly office of Christ.&#8221;((CCC, n. 897)) As such, the baptized to one degree or another have the capacity to discern the &#8220;signs of the times.&#8221; The Catechism says,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><span class=\"text\"><span class=\"textsm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the\u00a0<em>sensus fidelium<\/em> [sense of the faithful] knows how to discern and welcome in these [prophetic] revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u2014<em>Catechism of the Catholic Church,\u00a0<\/em>n. 67<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I have met and heard from numerous souls over the past two decades, whether laity or clergy, who have told me they feel an urgent interior sense or word to &#8220;<em>prepare<\/em>.&#8221; As the &#8220;signs of the times&#8221; ramp up, this interior call to conversion has only intensified worldwide.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">IV. The General Signs \u2014 Man-Made?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jesus foretold:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>&#8230;you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom&#8230; There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.<\/strong> (Matthew 24:6-8, Luke 21:11)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Based on the growing evidence, what Jesus warned about in these Gospels seems increasingly to be <em>man-made<\/em> tribulations and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/lyin-signs-and-wonders\/\">signs<\/a> \u2014 reaping what we have collectively sown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The number of armed conflicts worldwide reached a historic high in 2024, according to data from the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) at Uppsala University.((<a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2025-06-reveal-sharp-conflicts-wars.html\">phys.org<\/a>)) While deaths were slightly down, this may be more indicative of precision weaponry, which has become more accurate and more lethal.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the &#8220;time of mercy&#8221; essentially began when Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the three children in Portugal. Light emanated from her, seemingly stopping an angel with a flaming sword from striking the earth.((see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/fatima-and-the-great-shaking\/\"><em>Fatima and the Great Shaking<\/em><\/a>))\u00a0Pope Benedict [Cardinal Ratzinger] would later observe:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>The angel with the flaming sword on the left of the Mother of God recalls similar images in the Book of Revelation. This represents the threat of judgment which looms over the world. Today the prospect that the world might be reduced to ashes by a sea of fire no longer seems pure fantasy: man himself, with his inventions, has forged the flaming sword.<\/strong> \u2014Cardinal Ratzinger, <em>The Message of Fatima<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/roman_curia\/congregations\/cfaith\/documents\/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20000626_message-fatima_en.html\">vatican.va<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Five years later, he continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>The threat of judgment also concerns us, the Church in Europe, Europe and the West in general\u2026 the Lord is also crying out to our ears\u2026 \u201cIf you do not repent I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.\u201d <\/strong>\u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI,\u00a0<em>Opening Homily,<\/em>\u00a0Synod of Bishops, October 2nd, 2005, Rome<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As for the other signs Our Lord spoke of, numerous scientists point out that while historical evidence does not necessarily show an increase in tectonic earthquakes, there is a distinct, localized increase in seismic activity linked to human actions.((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/biologyinsights.com\/are-earthquakes-increasing-what-the-data-actually-shows\/\">biologyinsights.com<\/a>))<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the U.S. Department of Defense issued a statement nearly thirty years ago suggesting that everything from earthquakes to famines to plagues is being weaponized by various nations:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>There are some reports, for example, that some countries have been trying to construct something like an Ebola Virus, and that would be a very dangerous phenomenon, to say the least\u2026 some scientists in their laboratories [are] trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would be ethnic specific so that they could just eliminate certain ethnic groups and races; and others are designing some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops. Others are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves<\/strong>. \u2014Secretary of Defense, William S. Cohen, April 28, 1997, 8:45 AM EDT, Department of Defense<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In otherwords, Jesus foresaw that man would bring himself to the point of self-destruction before Divine Justice would intervene [St. John seems to describe this in greater detail as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-seven-seals-of-revolution\/\">breaking of the seven seals<\/a> in Revelation Chapter 6 (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/brace-for-impact\/\"><em>Brace for Impact<\/em>).]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">V. Idolatry<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If ever God lifted His hand of protection on His People, it was when they entered into <em>idolatry<\/em>. After all, the very first commandment He gave was, &#8220;You shall have no other gods before me.&#8221;((Exodus 20:3)) And yet&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>&#8230;they made a [golden] calf in those days, offered sacrifice to the idol, and reveled in the works of their hands. Then God turned and handed them over&#8230; into exile beyond Babylon.<\/strong> (Acts 7:41-43)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today, we have created a new golden calf: <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/lyin-signs-and-wonders\/\">technology<\/a>,\u00a0<\/i>and more specifically, <em>artificial intelligence<\/em> (AI).((see the stories on AI dangers <a href=\"https:\/\/mewe.com\/group\/6001b664d73c61322e27a39c?tag=ai_dangers\">here<\/a>)) It&#8217;s not only the attachment and devotion vast portions of the world have to their devices, but now, AI and robotics are replacing <em>jobs<\/em> and <em>relationships,\u00a0<\/em>with some turning to AI for spiritual direction, sexual gratification, and esoteric knowledge. We have gone full circle to the primordial temptation in the Garden of Eden: to partake of the forbidden fruit:((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-new-tree-of-knowledge\/\"><em>The New Tree of Knowledge<\/em>))<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>God knows well that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, who know good and evil.<\/strong> (Genesis 3:5)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">VI. Playing God<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Closely related to idolatry is the hubris of man acting as if he were indeed a god. From cloning species, to genetically altering man&#8217;s DNA, to creating designer babies, to generating new life forms, to altering weather&#8230; our generation has virtually trampled upon medical and scientific ethics.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>The darkness enshrouding God and obscuring values is the real threat to our existence and to the world in general. If God and moral values, the difference between good and evil, remain in darkness, then all other \u201clights\u201d that put such incredible technical feats within our reach, not only progress, but also dangers that put us and the world at risk. <\/strong>\u2014POPE BENEDICT XVI, Easter Vigil Homily, April 7th, 2012<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">VII. Existential Threats<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Humanity is on the brink of self-destruction, in more ways than one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Numerous technological leaders, including Elon Musk, believe AI is on the verge of reaching &#8220;singularity&#8221;: when computers will become smarter than humans and able to reason like us as though they are sentient. Said Musk in a recent social media post: &#8220;2026 is the year of the Singularity.&#8221;((<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/elon-musk-says-entered-singularity-185946780.html\">finance.yahoo.com<\/a>)) At the same time, other technological pioneers are warning((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-new-tree-of-knowledge\/\"><em>The New Tree of Knowledge<\/em><\/a>)) that AI will have catastrophic consequences as it may attempt to eliminate human beings if AI begins to calculate humans as a threat.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><em>&#8220;Wars and rumors of wars&#8221;.<\/em> World leaders appear hell-bent on World War III. But in the era of nuclear weapons, any kind of atomic war would not only kill countless people directly and indirectly, but could send mankind into the dark ages.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The deliberate tinkering with viruses in laboratories in order to make them more lethal (&#8220;gain of function research&#8221;) is an unconscionable threat to vast portions of the human population.((eg. <a href=\"https:\/\/newswize.com\/scientists-create-untreatable-bird-flu-strain-with-100-kill-rate-in-humans\/\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/legalinsurrection.com\/2025\/03\/h5n1-bird-flu-strain-reported-to-be-another-gain-of-function-virus\/\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/missouri-bsl-2-lab-gain-of-function-research\/\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/opinion\/the-us-governments-psychopathic-record-on-bioweapons-should-give-us-pause-about-bird-flu-claims\/\">here<\/a>))<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-53556\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Fuse-is-Short.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Fuse-is-Short.jpg 1925w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Fuse-is-Short-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Fuse-is-Short-1024x585.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Fuse-is-Short-768x439.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Fuse-is-Short-1536x878.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 589px) 100vw, 589px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">VIII. The Culture of Death<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Next to idolatry, the sin that cries out most to the heavens is the spilling of blood.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living. For he has created all things that they might exist &#8230; God created man for incorruption, and made him in the image of his own eternity, but through the devil&#8217;s envy death entered the world, and those who belong to his party experience it.<\/strong> (Wis 1:13-14; 2:23-24).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thus, when Heaven sees us spilling the blood of the innocent <em>en masse <\/em>through wars, abortion, euthanasia, needless starvation and countless other ways, then all of us ought to hear again what&#8230;\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>The Lord said to Cain: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/what-have-you-done\/\"><em>What have you done?<\/em><\/a> The voice of your brother&#8217;s blood is crying to me from the ground&#8221; (Gen 4:10).The voice of the blood shed by men continues to cry out, from generation to generation, in ever new and different ways. The Lord&#8217;s question: <em>&#8220;What have you done?&#8221;<\/em>, which Cain cannot escape, is addressed also to the people of today, to make them realize the extent and gravity of the attacks against life which continue to mark human history&#8230;<\/strong> \u2014POPE ST JOHN PAUL II,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/john-paul-ii\/en\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_jp-ii_enc_25031995_evangelium-vitae.html\">Evangelium Vitae<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0n. 10<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">IX. The Emerging Global Slavery<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Governments all over the planet, in coordination with hidden financial powers, are moving to eliminate hard currency and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-great-corralling\/\">corral<\/a> the entire global population into a digital ID and monetary system.((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-great-theft\/\"><em>The Great Theft<\/em><\/a>)) Once this is achieved, citizens&#8217; ability to move freely, to buy or sell as they deem fit, to travel and own property will be entirely monitored and controlled.((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-final-revolution\/\"><em>The Final Revolution<\/em><\/a>)) Benedict XVI could not have been clearer on what humanity faces:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>We think of the great powers of the present day, of the anonymous financial interests which turn men into slaves, which are no longer human things, but are an anonymous power which men serve, by which men are tormented and even slaughtered. They<\/strong><strong>\u00a0are a destructive power, a power that menaces the world.\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014BENEDICT XVI, Reflection after the reading of the office for the Third Hour, Vatican City, October 11, 2010<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a word, it is\u00a0<em>global Communism,\u00a0<\/em>and we are literally on the verge of seeing it fulfilled.((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/isaiahs-prophecy-of-communism\/\"><em>Isaiah&#8217;s Prophecy of Global Communism<\/em><\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-spectre-of-global-communism\/\"><em>The Spectre of Global Communism<\/em><\/a>))\u00a0<em>Ordo ab chaos \u2014<\/em> &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/exposing-this-revolutionary-spirit\/\">Order out of chaos<\/a>&#8221; \u2014 that is the motto of the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/global-revolution\/\">anonymous powers<\/a>&#8221; that seeks to eradicate both the present structure of human civilization, and the Church herself. Perhaps Jesus and St. John literally described for us what the <em>chaos<\/em> would look like: wars, famines, economic collapse, plagues, and earthquakes.((cf.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/brace-for-impact\/\"><em>Brace for Impact<\/em><\/a>))\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">X. The Great Scattering of the Church<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Catechism of the Catholic Church<\/em> says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><span class=\"text\">The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><em>\u2014<\/em>CCC<em>, <\/em>677<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The prophet Ezekiel,((cf. Ez 34:1-16)) as well as Our Lord, spoke of a time when, for lack of a shepherd, the sheep will be scattered.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Then Jesus said to them, \u201cThis night all of you will have your faith in me shaken, for it is written: \u2018I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be dispersed\u2019&#8230;<\/strong> (Matthew 26:31)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Indeed, the Catechism echoes these words saying, &#8220;Before Christ\u2019s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will <em>shake the faith<\/em> of many believers&#8230;&#8221; ((n. 675)) St. Paul revealed that there will first be a mass falling away from the faith \u2014 an <em>apostasy<\/em>. Catholic professor and author, Dr. Ralph Martin, observed:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>There has never been such a falling away from Christianity as there has been in the past century. We are certainly a \u201ccandidate\u201d for the Great Apostasy.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014Dr. Ralph Martin, a\u00a0Consultor to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization,\u00a0<em>What in the World is Going On?\u00a0<\/em>Television documenatary, CTV Edmonton, 1997<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to papal theologian Cardinal Luigi Ciappi:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>In the Third Secret [of Fatima] it is foretold, among other things, <\/strong><strong>that the great apostasy in the Church begins at the top. \u2014<\/strong>cited in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fatima.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Secret-Still-Hidden.pdf\">The<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/fatima.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Secret-Still-Hidden.pdf\">\u00a0Still\u00a0Hidden Secret<\/a>, <\/em>Christopher A. Ferrara, p. 43<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Perhaps part of the &#8220;shaking&#8221; already has been the doctrinal ambiguities and controversial actions that have emerged from Rome. To the blessing of same-sex couples,((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/have-we-turned-a-corner\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Fiducia Supplicans<\/i>)<\/span><\/a>) to the confusion regarding Communion for the divorced and remarried,((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-anti-mercy\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Amoris Lateitia<\/i><\/span><\/a>)) to the Church uncritically backing controversial United Nations&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/open-letter-to-the-catholic-bishops\/\">medical<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/climate-confusion\/\">scientific<\/a> opinions, to the scenes of Amazonians bowing prostrate to &#8220;Mother Earth&#8221; in the Vatican Gardens,((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-new-paganism-part-iii\/\"><em>The New Paganism &#8211; Part III<\/em><\/a>)) followed by the recent incomplete and at times contradictory catechesis on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kcyVUANhElQ\"><span class=\"s1\">Marian titles<\/span><\/a>&#8230; the moral authority and credibility of the Vatican has been greatly shaken.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps most astonishing has been the creep towards <em>religious indifferentism <\/em>((cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/the-wearing-down-of-the-saints\/\">here<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wordonfire.org\/articles\/barron\/world-youth-day-and-converting-everyone-to-christ\/\">here<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/bishopstrickland.com\/blog\/post\/open-your-eyes\">here<\/a>)) as the hierarchy has embraced ecumenism almost in <em>lieu<\/em> of evangelization. In an address in 2014, it was as if Benedict was warning his fellow bishops, if not successors:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Today many, in effect, are of the opinion that the religions must\u00a0respect each other and, in dialogue among themselves, become a common force for peace. In this way of thinking, most of the time there is a presupposition that the different religions are variations of a single and identical reality; that \u201creligion\u201d is a common genre that takes on different forms according to the different cultures but nonetheless expresses the same reality. The question of truth, which in the beginning moved Christians more than all the rest, is here put in parentheses\u2026 This renunciation of the truth seems realistic and useful for peace among religions in the world. And nonetheless this is lethal to faith\u2026\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014message to the Pontifical Urbaniana University on its dedication of the great hall to Benedict XVI; read remarks, October 21st, 2014;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chiesa.espresso.repubblica.it\/articolo\/1350914?eng=y\">chiesa.espresso.repubblica.it<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-53510  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fuse-Lit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fuse-Lit.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fuse-Lit-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fuse-Lit-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fuse-Lit-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/fuse-Lit-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just as Judas&#8217;s kiss was lethal to Jesus, so too, the kiss of religious indifferentism, seemingly wrapped in noble intentions of universal fraternity (which is impossible without the grace of conversion and the Holy Spirit) is lethal to Catholicism&#8230; and is perhaps the clearest herald that the Day of Justice is rapidly approaching.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you, brethren, not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the Day of the Lord has come.
