The main point is at the end, and the need for wisdom. For new readers, the rest of this meditation can also serve as a wake-up call to the seriousness of our times&#8230;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>SOME<\/strong> time ago, I listened on the radio to a news story about a serial killer somewhere on the loose\u00a0in New York, and all the horrified responses. My first reaction was anger at the stupidity of this generation. Do we seriously believe that constantly glorifying psychopathic killers, mass murderers, vile rapists, and war in our &#8220;entertainment&#8221; has no effect on our emotional and spiritual well-being? Whether modern societies want this to continue is largely a public policy question, not an exclusively scientific one.\u00a0<\/strong> \u2014Iowa State University study, <em>The Effects of Video Game Violence on Physiological Desensitization to Real-Life Violence<\/em>; Carnagey, Anderson, and Ferlazzo; article from <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.public.iastate.edu\/%7Enscentral\/news\/2006\/jul\/desensitized.shtml\">ISU News Service; July 24th, 2006<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>And we are shocked<\/em> when we hear about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/CTVNews\/World\/20110407\/brazil-school-110407\/\">copy-cat school<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/world\/story\/2011\/04\/09\/dutch-mall-shooting.html\">random shootings<\/a>? When we hear about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/international\/world\/0,1518,752310,00.html\">soldiers taking innocent lives<\/a>? When we see more and more young parents <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/42634832\/ns\/us_news-crime_and_courts\/\">committing infanticide<\/a>? Are we really that stupid\u2014are we this naive? Yes, because people are generally more interested in watching mindless television than falling to their knees and asking God to fill the gnawing vacuum in their hearts. Perhaps the reason they don&#8217;t is because the Western Church has fallen mostly silent, not only on the disturbing <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/washington-archdiocese-priest-tackles-catholic-acceptance-of-homosexuality?utm_source=LifeSiteNews.com+Daily+Newsletter&amp;utm_campaign=1e846742f2-LifeSiteNews_com_US_Full_Text_04_04_2011&amp;utm_medium=email\">moral issues of our day<\/a>, thereby providing almost no guiding moral light in the darkness, but on the need to <em>&#8220;repent and believe the Good News<\/em>.&#8221; There is a <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/the-great-vacuum\/\">Great Vacuum<\/a><\/em>\u00a0indeed, and it is being <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ewtn.com\/vnews\/getstory.asp?number=112694\">filled with the spirit of the world<\/a>. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_5646_1('footnote_plugin_reference_5646_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_5646_1('footnote_plugin_reference_5646_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_5646_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_5646_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. It is because of the <em>convergence of chaos<\/em> that relatively few seem to be aware of. <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 3px;\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-images\/Japan-Radiation-fears-grow5.jpg\" width=\"253\" height=\"159\" align=\"left\" \/>I am speaking of the <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.naturalnews.com\/032050_radioactive_food_nuclear_radiation.html\">castrophic events unfolding in Japan<\/a>; the growing<a href=\"http:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/20110211-us-israel-will-soon-exit-middle-east-ahmadinejad\"> threat of nuclear war with Iran<\/a>; the<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/BRICS-demand-global-monetary-rb-217782600.html?x=0&amp;.v=3\"> rise of a new currency and currency wars<\/a> and <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/11-clear-signs-that-the-u-s-economy-is-headed-into-the-toilet\">coming collapse of the American economy<\/a>; the growing international <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicy.com\/articles\/2011\/01\/10\/the_great_food_crisis_of_2011\">food\u00a0crisis<\/a>; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/business\/2011\/mar\/09\/petrol-prices-record-breaking-6-per-gallon\">soaring price of fuel<\/a>; the ongoing <a href=\"http:\/\/newsfeed.time.com\/2011\/03\/08\/mass-animal-deaths-are-back-millions-of-dead-anchovies-float-ashore-in-california\/\">mass deaths of animals<\/a> and <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/telegraphjournal.canadaeast.com\/rss\/article\/1394946\">bees<\/a> worldwide; the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livescience.com\/13632-mega-earthquakes-increasing-japan-indonesia.html\">increasing number of large earthquakes and volcanoes<\/a>; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leaderu.com\/orgs\/probe\/docs\/epid-std.html\">epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases<\/a>; the alarming intervention of the State in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2011\/03\/01\/obama-hits-abortion-conscience-clause-but-pro-lifers-can-respond\/\">religious<\/a>\u00a0and <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.infowars.com\/6-year-old-girl-groped-then-drug-tested-by-tsa\/\">personal freedom<\/a>; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/7681252\/ns\/health-cloning_and_stem_cells\">genetic meddling with our species<\/a>; and the rapid <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetablet.co.uk\/article\/15714\">decline of moral values<\/a>. It has many Christians I know fasting and weeping&#8230; while others are yawning as they flip through the channels of the dumb-box.\u00a0What a remarkable sign of the times! Is that what Jesus meant when He said it would be &#8220;<em>as it was in the days of Noah&#8221;?<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">In those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. Far from a conspiracy theory is the fact that there are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/news\/world\/us_and_americas\/article6350303.ece\">major world leaders<\/a> and organizations, not the least the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/archive\/ldn\/2001\/jun\/01062001\">United Nations<\/a>, who are intent\u00a0on <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/archive\/ldn\/2009\/may\/09052511\">reducing world population <\/a><\/em>in order to procure &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/green-agenda.com\/agenda21.html\">sustainable development.&#8221;<\/a> Funny how people are more willing to believe in sasquatch or the Loch Ness monster than they are in\u00a0public <a href=\"http:\/\/www.codexalimentarius.net\/web\/index_en.jsp\">documents<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/archive\/ldn\/2010\/jun\/10061603\">statements<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/embracinghopetv\/archives\/95\">actions<\/a> that outline this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prisonplanet.com\/the-population-reduction-agenda-for-dummies.html\">demonic strategy<\/a>.\u00a0For example, The Club of Rome, a global thinktank concerned with population\u00a0growth and dwindling resources, drew a chilling conclusion in its 1993 report:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-NZ\" xml:lang=\"en-NZ\"><strong>In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. The missing perspective is a <em>spiritual <\/em>one. In that regard, <em>there is<\/em> a co-ordinated effort\u2014and has been for 2000 years\u2014by Satan, to destroy the Church and much of the world with her. In that regard, men have often become instruments of evil, at times without fully realizing the greater <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ewtn.com\/vnews\/getstory.asp?number=112694\">demonic plan<\/a> they are participating in.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>The new messianists, in seeking to transform mankind into a collective being disconnected from his Creator, will unknowingly bring about the destruction of the greater portion of mankind. (Matt 25:5)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>One can hardly exaggerate the seriousness of our times, and thus, the purpose of this writing is to shake the reader awake (if he is indeed sleeping). Wisdom is a gift of the Spirit that gives knowledge its foundation, helping us to understand what is important, what is true and good, and how to act accordingly.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">Wisdom&#8217;s garland is fear of the Lord&#8230; Knowledge and full understanding she showers down&#8230; (Sirach 1:17)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">If you cover one of your eyes right now, and then try and touch an object, you discover that your depth perception is hampered. You need the other eye. In the same way, knowledge is not enough. Wisdom gives us the perception and proper reasoning to &#8220;touch&#8221; knowledge, to understand it&#8217;s place in the big picture of things. Indeed, many today are running about trying to find out what this prophecy says or that seer predicts, and yet, they lack a critical wisdom to help them discern and place it in the proper perspective.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">THREE WAYS TO WISDOM<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">There are three ways primarily in which we gain wisdom. The first, is by a proper <em>fear of the Lord<\/em>, a holy respect for Him and His commandments:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">If you desire wisdom, keep the commandments, and the Lord will bestow her upon you&#8230; (Sirach 1:23)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">God does not &#8220;throw pearls to swine&#8221;; conversely, a humble and repentant heart will receive wisdom. But more than that, a proper fear of the Lord is the <em>beginning of wisdom<\/em> because it shows that the person already perceives that there is Someone and something greater than himself, and therefore, one&#8217;s whole life becomes oriented toward the purpose for which one was created. Wisdom, then, comes to the simple who come to God like a child, obeying what He says precisely because He said it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The second way to attain wisdom is to <em>ask<\/em> for it. I cannot think of another Scripture that is so clear in its promise to give a <em>specific<\/em> gift if we\u00a0simply ask for it:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono; font-size: small;\">&#8230;if any of you lacks <em>wisdom<\/em>, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it. But he should ask in faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord&#8230; (James 1:5-7)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">This article is also intended to underscore the <em>urgency<\/em> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/the-great-gift\/\">consecrating yourself to Jesus through Mary<\/a>. Through this entrustment, the <em>Mother of Wisdom<\/em> will also help bring about this salutary gift of wisdom\u00a0so needed in these tumultuous days. For in entering the school of Mary, we learn the secrets of the Heart of her Son who derived his beating flesh from her flesh, his blood from her blood.
