That sorrow culminated in a writing three weeks later called <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/removing-the-restrainer\/\">Removing the Restrainer<\/a>. <\/em>It speaks in part about how the Pope and the Church are a force restraining the &#8220;lawless one,&#8221; the Antichrist. Little did I or hardly anyone know that the Holy Father decided then, after that trip, to renounce his office, which he did this past February 11th of 2013.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">This resignation has brought us closer to <em>the threshold of the Day of the Lord&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><!--more-->THE DAY OF THE LORD<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The Church Fathers also referred to the Day of the Lord as the &#8220;seventh day,&#8221; a day of rest that would come for the Church when all of creation would rest and experience some kind of renewal. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_9861_1('footnote_plugin_reference_9861_1_1');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_9861_1('footnote_plugin_reference_9861_1_1');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_9861_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_9861_1_1\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">cf. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2012\/08\/creation-reborn\/\">Creation Reborn<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_9861_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_9861_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script> The Fathers equated this Day or &#8220;seventh day&#8221; to Chapter 20 of St. John&#8217;s Apocalypse when the Antichrist would be defeated, Satan chained, and the saints would reign with Christ for a &#8220;thousand years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Behold, the Day of the Lord shall be a thousand years.<\/strong> \u2014Letter of Barnabas, <em>The Fathers of the Church, <\/em>Ch. 15 <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Thus, the Day of the Lord, that eventually culminates in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2007\/08\/the-return-of-jesus-in-glory\/\">Return of Jesus in Glory at the end of time<\/a>, is not to be thought of as a single, twenty-four period but one that, nonetheless, follows the pattern of a solar day:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>\u2026this day of ours, which is bounded by the rising and the setting of the sun, is a representation of that great day to which the circuit of a thousand years affixes its limits. <\/strong>\u2014Lactantius, <em>Fathers of the Church:<\/em> <em>The Divine Institutes, Book VII, <\/em>Chapter 14, <em>Catholic Encyclopedia; <\/em><a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newadvent.org\/fathers\/07017.htm\">www.newadvent.org<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">That is to say that the Day of the Lord begins in a <em>vigil&#8230; <\/em>the <em>darkness of night&#8230;\u00a0<\/em> <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_9861_1('footnote_plugin_reference_9861_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_9861_1('footnote_plugin_reference_9861_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_9861_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_9861_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/two-more-days\/\"><em>Two More Days <\/em><\/a>for a basic chronology<\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_9861_1_2').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_9861_1_2', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">ONE DAY, A THOUSAND YEARS<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The Church Fathers made the seven days of God&#8217;s creation in Genesis analgous to the <em>seven thousand years <\/em>following creation, <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Creation-Hands_000.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"274\" height=\"260\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"2\" \/>according to the biblical account.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New'; font-size: small;\">With the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New'; font-size: small;\">. (2 Pt 3:8)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Thus, they took the four thousand years leading up to Christ&#8217;s birth to represent the first &#8220;four days&#8221; of the &#8220;work&#8221; of the People of God. The following two thousand years since Christ&#8217;s birth they deemed to refer to the last two days of the labour of the Church. Thus, with the turn of the millennium we have, according to the Father&#8217;s teachings, arrived at the end of the Sixth Day and the threshold of the Seventh Day\u2014a day of rest from all the labours of God&#8217;s people.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">Therefore, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God. And whoever enters into Gods rest, rests from his own works as God did from his. (Heb 4:8)<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Scripture says: \u2018And God rested upon the seventh day from all His works\u2019\u2026 And in six days created things were completed; it is evident, therefore, that they will come to an end at the sixth thousand year\u2026 But when The Antichrist shall have devastated all things in this world, he will reign for three years and six months, and sit in the temple at Jerusalem; and then the Lord will come from Heaven in the clouds\u2026 sending this man and those who follow him into the lake of fire; but bringing in for the righteous the times of the kingdom, that is, the rest, the hallowed seventh day\u2026 These are to take place in the times of the kingdom, that is, upon the seventh day\u2026 the true Sabbath of the righteous.\u00a0 <\/strong>\u2014St. Irenaeus of Lyons, Church Father (140\u2013202 A.D.); <em>Adversus Haereses<\/em>, Irenaeus of Lyons, V.33.3.4, <em>The Fathers of the Church, <\/em>CIMA Publishing Co.; (St. Irenaeus was a student of St. Polycarp, who knew and learned from the Apostle John and was later consecrated bishop of Smyrna by John.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Oh! when in every city and village the law of the Lord is faithfully observed, when respect is shown for sacred things, when the Sacraments are frequented, and the ordinances of Christian life fulfilled, there will certainly be no more need for us to labor further to see all things restored in Christ\u2026 And then? Then, at last, it will be clear to all that the Church, such as it was instituted by Christ, must enjoy full and entire liberty and independence from all foreign dominion\u2026\u00a0 \u201cHe shall break the heads of his enemies,\u201d that all may know \u201cthat God is the king of all the earth,\u201d \u201cthat the Gentiles may know themselves to be men.\u201d All this, Venerable Brethren, We believe and expect with unshakable faith.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014POPE PIUS X,\u00a0<em>E Supremi, Encyclical \u201cOn the Restoration of All Things\u201d<\/em>, n.14, 6-7<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Again, the Fathers of the Church are not referring to the end of the world, but the end of the <em>age<\/em>, and dawning of a new era <em>before <\/em>the Last Judgment at the end of time:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2026we understand that a period of one thousand years is indicated in symbolic language\u2026 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>A man among us named John, one of Christ\u2019s Apostles, received and foretold that the followers of Christ would dwell in Jerusalem for a thousand years, and that afterwards the universal and, in short, everlasting resurrection and judgment would take place. <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2014St. Justin Martyr, <em>Dialogue with Trypho<\/em>, <em>The Fathers of the Church<\/em>, Christian Heritage<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">If we are at the end of the Sixth Day, then we should also see a corresponding &#8220;darkness&#8221; or &#8220;night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">ON THE SIXTH DAY<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">I have dozens upon dozens of writings here and also in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/TheFinalConfrontation.html\">my book<\/a>, which describe in careful detail\u2014in the words of the popes themselves\u2014the spiritual darkness that has descended upon the world. <span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_9861_1('footnote_plugin_reference_9861_1_3');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_9861_1('footnote_plugin_reference_9861_1_3');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_9861_1_3\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[3]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_9861_1_3\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\">If you are a new reader, you can find several of these quotes summarized in the writing, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/why-arent-the-popes-shouting\/\">Why Aren&#8217;t the Popes Shouting?<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_9861_1_3').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_9861_1_3', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top right', relative: true, offset: [10, 10], });<\/script><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">What happened on the actual &#8220;sixth day&#8221; of creation? Scripture says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, mono; font-size: small;\">God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness&#8230; God blessed them and God said to them: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it&#8230; God also said: See, I give you every seed-bearing plant on all the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food&#8230; And so it happened. God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed \u2014 the sixth day.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">What is happening in <em>our <\/em>Sixth Day?<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">We have begun to recreate man in our own image, or what we think our image should be. As I just wrote in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/the-heart-of-the-new-revolution\/\">The Heart of the New Revolution<\/a><\/em>, we have come in <em>our<\/em> times to a remarkable turning point:<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.markmallett.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/transhumanmichelangelo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"467\" height=\"258\" \/> the belief that our biological sex, genetic makeup, and moral fabric can be completely re-ordered, re-engineered, and replaced. We have put our hope almost solely into science and technology to deliver us into a new epoch of human enlightenment and freedom. We have chemically and mechanically made ourselves infertile. We have begun programmes to dramatically reduce the human population. It no longer becomes a fecund <em>seed-bearing<\/em> plant, and the seeds must then be re-purchasesd the following season.
