From the Mediterranean to the Gulf of Mexico, from Japan to northern India, and across nearly the entire inhabited northern hemisphere — one of the most widespread auroral events in living memory occurred on November 11, 2025. A coronal mass ejection from the Sun and subsequent G5 geomagnetic storm (the highest level on NOAA’s space weather scale) spread across the night skies, blanketing all of Europe, Russia, and North America in a crimson red light, clearly visible to the eye, even in Louisiana and parts of China.
