Many years ago, a business owner asked my wife (a graphic designer) to design a logo for his company. One day he seemed to love her ideas… the next day he’d change his mind. And this dragged on for days and weeks. Eventually, seeing that nothing satisfied him, my wife bowed out and sent a small bill for the work she’d done.

A few days later, he left a nasty voicemail, calling my wife every filthy name under the sun, and I mean, every name. I was standing there as she played back the call, and I was outraged. I drove to his workplace, slammed my business card down in front of him, and said, “If you ever speak to my wife that way again, I’ll make sure your business gets all the notoriety it deserves.” You see, I was a TV business news reporter at the time.
