These Times of Antichrist

The world at the approach of a new millennium,
for which the whole Church is preparing,
is like a field ready for the harvest.

—ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II, World Youth Day, homily, August 15th, 1993

THE Catholic world has been abuzz recently with the release of a letter written by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI essentially stating that the Antichrist is alive. The letter was sent in 2015 to Vladimir Palko, a retired Bratislava statesman who lived through the Cold War. The late pope wrote:Continue reading

This is the Hour…

ON THE SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH,
HUSBAND OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

SO much is happening, so quickly these days — just as the Lord said it would.[1]cf. Warp Speed, Shock and Awe Indeed, the closer we draw to the “Eye of the Storm”, the faster the winds of change are blowing.  This man-made Storm is moving at an ungodly pace to “shock and awe” humanity into a place of subservience — all “for the common good”, of course, under the nomenclature of the “Great Reset” in order to “build back better.” The messianists behind this new utopia are beginning to pull out all the tools for their revolution — war, economic turmoil, famine, and plagues. It is truly coming upon many “like a thief in the night”.[2]1 Thess 5:12 The operative word is “thief”, which is at the heart of this neo-communistic movement (see Isaiah’s Prophecy of Global Communism).

And all this would be a cause for the man without faith to tremble. As St. John heard in a vision 2000 years ago of the people of this hour saying:

“Who can compare with the beast or who can fight against it?” (Rev 13:4)

But for those whose faith is in Jesus, they are going to see the miracles of Divine Providence soon, if not already…Continue reading

An Unapologetic Apocalyptic View

…there is none more blind than he who does not want to see,
and despite the signs of the times foretold,
even those who have faith
refuse to look at what is happening.
Our Lady to Gisella Cardia, October 26th, 2021

I AM supposed to be embarrassed by this article’s title — ashamed to utter the phrase “end times” or quote the Book of Revelation much less dare to mention Marian apparitions. Such antiquities supposedly belong in the dust bin of medieval superstitions alongside archaic beliefs in “private revelation”, “prophecy” and those ignominious expressions of “the mark of the beast” or “Antichrist.” Yes, better to leave them to that garish era when Catholic churches billowed with incense as they churned out saints, priests evangelized pagans, and commoners actually believed that faith could drive away plagues and demons. In those days, statues and icons not only adorned churches but public buildings and homes. Imagine that. The “dark ages” — enlightened atheists call them.Continue reading

The Enemy is Within the Gates

THERE is a scene in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings where Helms Deep is under attack. It was supposed to be an impenetrable stronghold, surrounded by the massive Deeping Wall. But a vulnerable spot is discovered, which the forces of darkness exploit by causing all kinds of distraction and then planting and igniting an explosive. Moments before a torch runner reaches the wall to light the bomb, he is spotted by one of the heroes, Aragorn. He yells to the archer Legolas to take him down… but it’s too late. The wall explodes and is breached. The enemy is now within the gates. Continue reading

The False Peace and Security

For you yourselves know very well
that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night.
When people are saying, “Peace and security,”
then sudden disaster comes upon them,
like labor pains upon a pregnant woman,
and they will not escape.
(1 Thess 5:2-3)

JUST as the Saturday night vigil Mass heralds Sunday, what the Church calls the “day of the Lord” or “Lord’s day”[1]CCC, n. 1166, so too, the Church has entered the vigil hour of the Great Day of the Lord.[2]Meaning, we are on the eve of the Sixth Day And this Day of the Lord, taught the Early Church Fathers, is not a twenty-four hour day at the end of the world, but a triumphant period of time when the enemies of God will be vanquished, the Antichrist or “Beast” is cast into the lake of fire, and Satan chained for a “thousand years.”[3]cf. Rethinking the End TimesContinue reading

Not Herod’s Way

And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod,

they departed for their country by another way.
(Matthew 2:12)

AS we near Christmas, naturally, our hearts and minds are turned toward the coming of the Savior. Christmas melodies play in the background, the soft glow of lights adorn homes and trees, the Mass readings express great anticipation, and normally, we await the gathering of family. So, when I woke up this morning, I grimaced at what the Lord was compelling me to write. And yet, things the Lord has shown me decades ago are being fulfilled right now as we speak, becoming clearer to me by the minute.

So, I am not trying to be a depressing wet rag before Christmas; no, the governments are doing that well enough with their unprecedented lockdowns of the healthy. Rather, it is with sincere love for you, your health, and above all, your spiritual well-being that I address a less “romantic” element of the Christmas story that has everything to do with the hour in which we are living.Continue reading

On the Threshold

THIS week, a deep, inexplicable sadness came over me, as it has in the past. But I know now what this is: it is a drop of sadness from the Heart of God—that man has rejected Him to the point of bringing humanity to this painful purification. It is the sadness that God was not allowed to triumph over this world through love but must do so, now, through justice.Continue reading

Interpreting Revelation

WITHOUT a doubt, the Book of Revelation is one of the most controversial in all of Sacred Scripture. On one end of the spectrum are fundamentalists who take every word literally or out of context. On the other are those who believe the book has already been fulfilled in the first century or who ascribe to the book a merely allegorical interpretation.Continue reading

Antichrist in Our Times

First published January 8th, 2015…

SEVERAL weeks ago, I wrote that it is time for me ‘to speak directly, boldly, and without apology to the “remnant” who are listening. It is only a remnant of readers now, not because they are special, but chosen; it is a remnant, not because all are not invited, but few respond….’ [1]cf. The Convergence and the Blessing That is, I have spent ten years writing about the times we live in, constantly referencing Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium so as to bring balance to a discussion that perhaps too frequently relies only on private revelation. Nonetheless, there are some who simply feel any discussion of the “end times” or the crises we face is too gloomy, negative, or fanatical—and so they simply delete and unsubscribe. So be it. Pope Benedict was pretty straightforward about such souls:
