Were I the devil, at this moment in the Church and the world, I would do my best to discredit the priesthood, undermine the Holy Father’s authority, sow doubt in the Magisterium, and attempt to convince the faithful that they can only rely now upon their own inner instincts and private revelation.
That, simply, is a recipe for deception.
A Great Schism?

On July 2, 2026, the Apostolic See issued ipso facto a latae sententiae excommunication of four priests “ordained” to the episcopate within and by the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), as well as the bishop who acted as co-consecator in the liturgical celebration.[1]zenit.org The priests were elevated to the level of bishop without the express permission and authority of the Pope. The Vatican added:
Clergy and lay faithful are warned not to adhere to the schism of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, as they would automatically incur the penalty of latae sententiae excommunication. —Zenit, July 2, 2026

We are not facing the end of the world. In fact, we are not even facing the last tribulations of the Church. What we are facing is the final confrontation in a long history of confrontations between Satan and Christ’s Church: a battle for one or the other to establish their kingdom on earth.[1]cf. As a Protestant, I have problems with you continually referring to messages reportedly from the mother of Jesus, for whom there is no biblical suggestion that she even communicates with us humans. Mary was a sinner, as we are, even though we should honor her. I appreciate your blog when you use biblical references and also those of great saints in the church. Being a Catholic should not keep you from asking yourself those types of questions.

The Coming Effect of Grace
Every year at this time, there is the predictable lament that the “meaning of Christmas” has been lost. No doubt, it’s been heavily commercialized, whether by corporations, Hollywood, or the music industry. As such, Christians might be tempted to heap scorn upon the culture, venting our indignation and dismay at how Christmas has been hijacked.
And yet, whether people understand this Christian Feast or not, they still benefit from the effects of this time as Christmas Day draws near. It’s like the minutes before dawn, when the first light begins to scatter the darkness, transforming the horizon’s gloomy clouds into burning embers that herald the coming of the Sun. Even if one were so engaged and caught up in his own affairs that he was completely oblivious to the sunrise, he would still benefit from all the effects of the light and heat of the Sun’s rays.Continue reading
